Wednesday, November 30th, finds the Washington Wizards facing the Brooklyn Nets in their second of four scheduled matches. The Nets won the initial match on November 4th (128-86).
Washington will host again on December 12th while the Nets will host the final match on February 4th.
Both teams last played Monday with the Wizards thumping the Wolves 142-128 while the Nets defeated the Magic 109-102.
Last season, the squads played four times splitting the contests with two each. The Wizards hold the advantage all-time having won 107 times of the club’s 200 meetings.
Washington Wizards
On a night when Karl-Anthony Towns went down to a calf strain, Kristaps Porzingis was feasting. Even prior to KAT’s injury the Zinger was on one scoring 29 of his career-best 41 points in the first half.
That included six made 3-pointers all hit in the first half. He added four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks, and even after Towns left the Wolves’ new big man Rudy Gobert had no answer for him.
Helping out Porzingis, four other Wizards scored in double-figures including Kyle Kuzma with 23, and Bradley Beal with 22.
Offensively, the Wizards score 110.5 points per game which ranked 21st overall. Washington shoots 47.4% from the field and 34.5% from the perimeter ranking 12th and 19th respectively.
Defensively, the Wizards allow opponents to score 111.4 per game ranked 12th overall. As for opponent efficiency, the Wizards allow foes to shoot 45.2% from the field ranking fourth-best, and 36.6% from the perimeter ranking 23rd.
Rui Hachimura (ankle) is questionable. Delon Wright (hamstring) is out indefinitely.
Brooklyn Nets
It was a night where several stars feasted in the NBA with the best performance of the night going to Kevin Durant who dropped 45 points adding seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
It was the tanking Magic they were playing, so make no mistake the Nets needed every one of KD’s 45 points to garner the victory. Kyrie Irving added 20, Joe Harris had 17 and Nic Claxton delivered a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Kevin Durant (45 PTS) was asked when does he know he's in rhythm for a big scoring performance…
His answer is PRICELESS 🤣 pic.twitter.com/u9j1Nc5bU7

In terms of performance, Brooklyn allows 110.8 points per game ranking 10th, and possesses the top ranking for opponent field goal percentage at 44.4%. Their perimeter defense is another story as foes shoot 38.0% from deep ranking 28th overall.
The see-saw stats is also reflected offensively where the Nets score 111.5 points per game which ranks 18th. They own the best field goal percentage, shooting 49.8% from the field, and rank eighth overall for perimeter shooting (37.2%).
David Duke (illness) is questionable for Wednesday. Yuta Watanabe (hamstring) is out indefinitely. TJ Warren (foot) is expected to return in early November.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Wizards are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games.
- The Nets are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games.
- The Wizards are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games on the road.
- The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Brooklyn’s last 6 games at home.
Free Washington Wizards vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
Both clubs have benefitted from easier strength of schedules in the first quarter but things are about to heat up. Brooklyn’s next 13 matches feature 11 opponents with winning records (and some just got a lot healthier!).
Meanwhile, the Wizards will play 10 of their next 13 games on the road also facing 10 opponents with winning records.
With Simmons, Curry, and Harris finally looking like they’ve shaken off the rust it’s helping the Nets but they still aren’t as good defensively as their stats say — you wait.
As for the Wizards, while Beal missed six games the Wiz were 4-2 and upon his return, they lost three in a row. Kuzma performed well in his absence and Porzingis is looking like the player who excited fans when he first entered the league.
The key for Beal will be keeping his two co-stars happy and meshing with them and not trying to be ‘the man’ because it could impact the chemistry they currently have.
Washington performs better at home, but I can’t shake the fact KD needed to score 45 so the Nets could beat the tanking Magic 109-102. That and the fact the Nets crushed the Wiz by 42 points last time out — so they’ll be seeking revenge.
