Utah lost in New Orleans on Monday, 129–124. It was its second loss in three games and third in six. That’s right, the Jazz is just a .500 club over the last week-plus.
The implications? None. Utah is an elite team that was running hot for a long time. It could not have possibly sustained the pace it had set for itself in the New Year.
Plus, its three losses in the last six games have all come on the road, to pretty good teams (Clippers, Heat, Pelicans), and were all decided by single-digits.
But now here comes another road game against a very good opponent.
The Jazz beat Philadelphia by eleven points in the middle of February. This is the chance for the 76ers’ revenge.
Ben Simmons scored a career-high 42 points in that game out in Salt Lake, the only 40-point game of his NBA career.
He went 15-of-26 from the field and 12-of-13 from the free throw line, dished out a dozen assists and came a rebound shy of a triple-double.
Part of the reason Simmons was so aggressive was that Joel Embiid didn’t play. It was an isolated DNP to rest up a minor injury. He returned to Philadelphia’s lineup the next game and scored 31 points.
He scored 50 the game after that. He had another 42-point game against Cleveland less than a week ago. His scoring total has been steadily getting closer and closer to thirty points per game and the MVP chatter has grown proportionally.
Simmons didn’t do it all in that game in Utah Embiid missed, however. Tobias Harris scored 36 on scorching hot shooting from the outside.
But Harris has missed the 76ers’ last two games with a knee injury and most teams are deciding to sit down banged-up players with just a few days to go before the All-Star Break.
NBA Betting Trends:

- Head to Head: The Jazz is 6-4 ATS in the last 10 head to head meetings
- Head to Head: Over/Under is 4-6 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Utah Jazz vs. Philadelphia 76ers NBA Prediction: Utah makes it a season sweep.
The Jazz does not want to go into what has been a historic first half for it on a losing streak.
Philadelphia will miss Harris’ outside shooting and playmaking on the perimeter if he cannot go, which seems likely. Even with Embiid back, Philadelphia drops this one at home.
