Utah is in Miami Friday night and that game has started out tight, tied 51–51 late in the first half.
The Heat has come to play so Utah will not have an easy night before traveling within Florida to meet the Magic on Saturday.
Of course, you know all about the Jazz’s season by now. Not only has Utah been winning at a ridiculous clip, it has been blowing teams out and covering spreads with ease.
Its +10.3 net rating is the best in the NBA and it has covered 23 times in its last 28 games. People are out there making money backing the Jazz every night.
It’s not an easy spot here, considering the Miami game will be exerting and this is a bit of a sleepy spot. Then there’s the double-digit number to cover.
A reason to believe in Utah, however, is its depth. It may not need big nights from Donovan Mitchell or Rudy Gobert.
Instead, Head Coach Quinn Snyder may give extra minutes to the second unit. Jordan Clarkson could get 30; Derrick Favors could have a double-double; Georges Niang could make five three-pointers. Utah has a lot of guys that can beat you.
The Nets worked the Magic on Thursday night, winning 129–92.
Nikola Vucevic, the All-Star, had 28 and 12 for Orlando, which got little else from the rest of its roster. James Harden and Kyrie Irving continued to dominate for Brooklyn.
It’s a wonder Vucevic has been as effective as he has been with the lack of help around him. Orlando started Michael Carter-Williams, James Ennis and Al-Farouq Aminu on Thursday.
It has gotten Evan Fournier back in the last 10 days. He’s played the last five games and averaged 22.5 in the first four before an 8-point dud against the Nets.
At least Fournier offers some outside shooting. Of course, Terrence Ross is there, too. He finished 1-for-9 against Brooklyn.
But Vucevic, Fournier and Ross are just about all Orlando has. Dwayne Bacon can get hot from time to time but if at least two of those first three guys don’t have big a big game, the Magic will not win often.
