(28-12) Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks (26-10)
The Toronto Raptors face the. Milwaukee Bucks for the third time this season. The Raptors last game featured a thorough beatdown by the Spurs. Meanwhile, Milwaukee plays the front end of the back to back set versus Atlanta on Friday.
Toronto won the season series for the past five years, but the Bucks have guaranteed at least a tie this season by winning the first two meetings.
Health has become a major issue for the Raptors. Every starter and most reserves have missed games. Yet, the combination of not having big man Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Lowry is taking a toll.
Toronto has accumulated 80 lost man games already surpassing last season’s cumulative total (76). Valanciunas’ absence was especially notable in recent contests featuring Jokic, Embiid, Whiteside, Vucevic, Gobert and Aldridge.
Kyle Lowry’s absence is much more severe given his ability to run Toronto’s offense and his presence oncourt produces significant improvements on both sides of the hardwood.
Lowry received injections to address lower back pain and inflammation with the hope it will expedite his return. While Toronto will exercise caution there is mounting concern over the lack of oncourt time spent with Kawhi Leonard.
Since December 1, the duo has only played in four games together. Lowry partook in shootaround in San Antonio which is encouraging while Valanciunas will be out at least until mid-January and likely until February.
During the Raptors recent regression, the Bucks moved into the Eastern Conference top seed. As of this writing, the Bucks have played four fewer games than the Raptors and subsequently have two fewer wins and losses.
Presumably, the Bucks will win the front side of the back to back versus Atlanta and even if they were to lose this match would remain in first by virtue of fewer losses and better win percentage (albeit minuscule).
Milwaukee has played five fewer road games and three fewer western teams. Toronto have a 61.9% road and 68.8% western team win percentage versus 56.2% and 61.5% respectively for the Bucks.
In first returns, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the leading Eastern Conference All-Star vote recipient. He’s also the top candidate to win MVP.
Sterling Brown (ankle) is probable and Ersan Ilyasova (nose) remains out.

Free Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Of this week’s four Raptors games (Jazz, Spurs, Bucks, Pacers) this is the one they are most desirous of winning given the standings and tiebreak implications.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Odds off, battered Raps lose to Bucks in a close fight.
Green, VanVleet, and Ibaka aren’t anywhere close to 100 percent and without Lowry, it limits Toronto’s full potential. I want to say Raptors, but it just feels like a big leap to make given their health.
