On Wednesday, February 24th the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat play for the third time this season. The clubs played a same opponent, consecutive dates series on January 20 and 22nd with each team winning once.
The Heat holds the all-time record between the clubs with 55 wins in 91 meetings. Last season, the teams played three times with Miami taking two of the three contests.
A poor first quarter cost the Raptors in the second game versus the 76ers. Philly scored 37 points and held Toronto to 18 seemingly putting the game out of reach.
But, the gritty Raptors made the game interesting and forced the 76ers to play to the buzzer as the squads split the two-game in season series.
While All-Star Joel Embiid collected a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds he struggled (3 of 13) and was aided by 12 free throws.
Toronto learned prior to the game none of their players were selected as reserves and instead of trying to respond with an offensive showcase elected to show off their defensive skills.
The 6′ Fred VanVleet was a pest on Embiid in particular as he blocked four shots (!), had two steals adding 12 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Pascal Siakam collected three steals and registered 22 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Norman Powell (24), Aron Baynes (11), OG Anunoby (10), and Chris Boucher (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Once again, a big factor was the charity stripe with Philly holding a huge 30 to 13 advantage but oddly the Raptors won the points in the paint battle 54 to 30.
Kyle Lowry (thumb) missed his fourth game and is questionable for Wednesday
It’s been a tough slog for the Heat who return home after the longest (distance traveled) road trip in franchise history. Miami beat the Thunder in the final game to finish the road trip 4-3.
The first games back from long trips are always hard but with Jimmy Butler back in the mix the Heat look poised to make a run at the Eastern Conference playoff ladder.
All five Heat starters as well as Max Strus registered double-digit scoring vs OKC. Bam Adebayo led his squad with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds as well as five assists and a block.
Butler offered 15 points and nine assists while Duncan Robinson led scoring with 22 points.
Kendrick Nunn (20), Kelly Olynyk (11), and Strus (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Goran Dragic (ankle) and Tyler Herro (hip) will be a game-time decision. Avery Bradley (calf) will miss up to a month. Chris Silva (hip) remains out with no specified return date. Meyers Leonard underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Raptors are 6-4 in the teams last 10 meetings.
- The Heat are 6-4 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these clubs
- The teams are 6-4 in the over/under in their last 10 meetings.
Free Toronto Raptors vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
The Raptors are playing the second game of a back-to-back set and fifth game in seven days. Meanwhile, the Heat have the rest advantage but after that long opposite coast trip is surely fatigued.
