Sunday, November 4 finds the Toronto Raptors arriving at STAPLES for the front end of a back to back series versus the LA Lakers and finishing up in Utah. The Lakers will be completing their own back to back set having played the Trail Blazers on Saturday.
Last season and going back three seasons Toronto have swept the Lakers in their season series. The Lakers hold the all-time record having bested the Raptors in 28 of their 43 matches.
Kyle Lowry is on fire posting double-doubles in six of the Raptors nine games and leads the NBA with 11.2 assists per game.
Kawhi Leonard missed scoring 20 points for the first time since donning a Raptors jersey and continues his natural organic integration with Toronto. Oddly, of all the top Eastern Conference teams Toronto is the one looking like it is playing with the most cohesion.
Granted, Milwaukee have the lone win over Toronto, but it came without three key contributors playing (Leonard, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby) and Delon Wright played just five minutes in his return from injury.
To that end, the game in Phoenix represented the first time all season Toronto had Wright, VanVleet, Onunoby and their bench mob healthy at one time. That unit played a majority of the second half against the Suns starters building upon the lead and reminding fans of their depth and potential.
Leonard jammed his foot in Phoenix marking him as questionable for Sunday in LA. Since Toronto are on a back to back he would’ve sat one game anyway – though the hope was for the Kawhi-LeBron matchup.
If there is one player who has owned the Toronto Raptors throughout their rise up the ranks it’s LeBron James. The irony of adding Kawhi Leonard to the fold just as he leaves for the Western Conference isn’t missed.
With the new LeBron showtime era Lakers things aren’t rolling as smoothly as anticipated. Despite protestations from Magic Johnson and James this would be a work in progress there are already murmurs of discontent with head coach Luke Walton.
Walton has utilized his youngsters well and survived Spit Gate, but this team as assembled has glaring flaws which show up primarily on the defensive side of the court and on the glass.
With rebounding the key issue in LA rumors surfaced Saturday the Suns will buy out Tyson Chandler who’ll join the Lakers to help with that endeavor (as per Marc Stein).
Michael Beasley (personal) is expected back while Moritz Wagner (knee) is questionable.
NBA Betting Trends:

- Over Under is 4-6 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Toronto Raptors vs. L.A. Lakers NBA Prediction:
LeBron and the Lakers always get up for games vs. Toronto, but if Kawhi isn’t playing it may take some shine off the event. The Raptors will have the rest advantage
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Line is off – take Raptors by 3 to win
With or without Leonard, the Raptors have a better overall squad, their bench mob back together and the rest advantage. And, don’t think the remaining Raptors don’t want to send a message to LeBron James.
