The Raptors are literally in free fall. They put up a strong effort against the Jazz on Friday, losing by two points but ultimately couldn’t overcome the free throw disparity of 41 to 14.
Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby all had strong performances against the Jazz but appeared visibly exhausted for stretches on Sunday. It’s understandable given they weren’t able to do any physical activity for almost three weeks.

The Raptors of old would’ve been fueled by that altercation but they weren’t able to summon what was necessary losing their eighth consecutive game.
If they lose to Houston it will only serve to fuel the ‘blow it up’ rumors. And if they win their next three matches feature a trio of elite clubs (Nuggets, Suns, Blazers).
While the starting trio will eventually regain their conditioning, Masai Ujiri has decisions to make because even if Lowry and Powell remain, the bench (other than Chris Boucher) hasn’t provided any consistent support.
Houston Rockets
Twenty and counting — that’s how many consecutive losses the Rockets have amassed. Yet, perhaps no loss was more embarrassing than the one on Sunday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are supposed to be tanking because Sam Presti has amassed a potential 18 first-round draft picks over the next seven seasons. But this young scrappy squad continues to prove how building a winning culture can pay long-term dividends.
The starting rotation the Rockets faced included two rookies and two sophomores and a two-way contracted player. Yet, they were the team who played with energy and chemistry.
John Wall became the scapegoat at the game end when Luguentz Dort blocked one of his shots and then he ignored head coach Stephen Silas’ play call for Christian Wood and took a long-range 3-pointer that clanked off the rim.
Christian Wood led the way for Houston with 27 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Wall registered 24 points, seven assists, and three steals. Victor Oladipo and Danuel House Jr scored 23 and 18 points respectively as the only other double-figure contributors for Houston.
Eric Gordon (groin), Danuel House (knee), and Dante Exum (calf) missed the Sunday match and are likely out again.
