Gay led the way with 19 points while Dejounte Murray and Derrick White each scored 17. Patty Mills (13) and Johnson (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Philadelphia 76ers
When Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were pulled from the All-Star game for contract tracing no doubt there was concern the situation could rapidly turn into something similar to what the Spurs put behind them and what the Raptors are currently dealing with.
Fortunately, that didn’t happen as Embiid returned to the court Friday to play the Wizards missing only one game and Simmons is expected to return on Sunday having missed two.
But Embiid’s luck was short-lived as he got injured in the Wizards contest when he landed awkwardly after a dunk hyperextending his leg.
Fortune seems to follow the big man however as the gruesome-looking landing didn’t cause major damage to his knee other than a bone bruise. While he’ll miss at least two weeks it could’ve been much worse.
Prior to the injury, Embiid registered 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in just 20 minutes. Shake Milton (18), Tobias Harris (14), Seth Curry (14), and Danny Green (12) were the other double-figure contributors.
