Spurs vs. Thunder Gameday
Game 2 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals tips off on Wednesday at 8:30.
Game 1 went to San Antonio 121-115 in a match that required double overtime to decide. Fans and pundits alike are loving that this series already feels like it’ll be a classic that should go the max.
Six Spurs scored in double figures, led by Victor Wembanyama, who delivered a massive double-double of 41 points and 24 rebounds, plus three blocks. Stephon Castle registered a triple-double of 17 points, 11 assists, and ELEVEN turnovers!
It was a rough night for the Thunder, who didn’t get their rhythm back until the second half as only three players scored in double figures. Alex Caruso was one of the few who looked sharp, leading the way with 31 points, connecting on eight of his 14 attempted deep balls.

San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder Odds & Last 5
Last year, the Thunder won the season series two games to one over the Spurs. In this campaign, the squads were scheduled to play four times, but because of the NBA Cup, they played five times in total, with the Spurs thumping them four games to one.
San Antonio has three losses through two series, having beaten the Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 and the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2.
Meanwhile, OKC has yet to lose this postseason, sweeping both the Phoenix Suns and the LA Lakers. With the Thunder finishing with a record of 64-18, they hold home court throughout the playoffs.
And, since the Spurs finished 62-20, they hold the second-best record and therefore whichever team wins this series will have home court advantage in the NBA Finals.
OKC is favored by 6.5 points with an over/under of 216.5 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder bottom line:
Although it’s only Game 2, this is a must-win for the OKC Thunder. Falling behind 0-2 would be almost impossible to climb out of.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t fared well against the Spurs all season, but watch for him to come out aggressive early. Chet Holmgren also needs to play much better, as he seemed passive and almost afraid to deal with Wemby.

Spurs Thunder Free Pick: Thunder -6.5
Here is my Spurs Thunder free pick. Already, this feels like it could be a historic series with just one game in the books. Certainly, fans wouldn’t object to six more efforts like Game 1.
To that end, most classic series produce quality wins for both sides, so a response to the loss is what fans should be hoping for tonight.
Jalen Williams was back on the court and was one of the few players who were successful, but the Spurs will try to limit him more in Game 2. The team was working on both his legs when he sat, so hopefully those hamstrings will hold up through the series.
OKC needs to emphasize crashing the glass as the Spurs murdered them there, 61-40, and also won scoring in the paint 52-38.
This series has the potential to be even more entertaining and competitive than the ultimate NBA Final. To wit, the team that wins the Western Conference Finals will likely be favored to win the Larry O’B trophy.
While the Thunder struggled early, they managed to rally late, taking the lead, and it appeared as if they had figured some things out.
They’ll need to start the game attacking and using that intel to ensure they are in control in Game 2. Watch for the Thunder to be more physical with Wemby and Castle.
De’Aaron Fox is still listed as a Game Time decision. If he can’t go, Castle needs to be better with the ball, as his 11 turnovers were one of the sore spots for the Spurs.
As for the outcome, I expect OKC to respond and win Game 2 and cover the spread.
