it’s expected to be a high scoring affair when the Kings visit the Timberwolves on Monday night. It’s a matchup of two of the four worst defenses in the NBA, but squads that also play some bad offense at times.
Something has to give in this matchup of two teams that have lost a combined five in a row. The Kings had a recent 5-game win streak, but can you trust them as -4.5 favorites leaving the West Coast?
Sacramento Kings
Sacramento lives and dies by their defense – or lack thereof. The Kings had improved on that aspect during their recent winning streak, holding three of five opponents to 108 points or less.
The Kings seem to have regressed a bit on the defensive end lately though, allowing 115+ in four straight games and it’s no surprise that they’ve lost three of those.
The thing is, Sacramento has the offense to stay in games even when the other team is scoring at will. That was never more evident than Saturday night, a 128-129 loss to the Bucks even while playing on the back to back.
Minnesota’s biggest weakness has been on the interior, which Sacramento is a little banged up on right now. Marvin Bagley and Hassan Whiteside are both out on Monday, but it could be another decent night for Richaun Holmes, who has a double-double in four of the last six.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The T’Wolves have had their share of defensive woes as of late too, the thing with Minnesota is that they don’t have the offense to stay close in those high scoring affairs. Minnesota has been held to 108 points or less in 8 of their last 9.
Minnesota may be a bit thin in the backcourt on Monday as well, with Ricky Rubio (back), Malik Beasley (hamstring), and Jaylen Nowell (leg) all listed as doubtful. There is Sacramento’s edge.
The T’Wolves being thin in the backcourt means a big game from De’Aaron Fox could be on the horizon. The Kings PG has gone for 24+ in 6 of the last 8, including 27 in Saturday’s loss to Milwaukee.
That being said, it’s Minnesota’s depleted backcourt vs. Sacramento’s absent interior. Karl-Anthony Towns has the capability to single handedly keep Minnesota in this one, going for 30+ in 3 of the last 4 while grabbing 14+ rebounds in 5 of the last 6.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
Oddsmakers are expecting a complete lack of defense in this one with a betting total of 234. That number seems meteorically too high.
The Timberwolves offense has struggled lately, and they’ll be without their starting PG Rubio. At the same time, Sacramento could come out very flat crossing the Mississippi River for the first time in two weeks.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Under 234
It’ll take two perfect offensive games to hit this over, I wouldn’t expect that from either squad.
