On February 7th, Sacramento won a close game in Los Angeles against the Clippers for its seventh win in eight games and ran its record a game over .500.
Since then, the Kings are just 4–13, including Wednesday’s two-point win in Washington.
All five starters had at least 16 points in the most recent victory. De’Aaron Fox was the high man with 28. Sacramento assisted on 25 baskets with just eight turnovers.
Tyrese Haliburton earned the start with Marvin Bagley out indefinitely with a broken bone in his hand. After playing just 62 games as a rookie and 13 last season, Bagley may be finished with 37 games played in this his third year.
The Kings are stuck in the standings, five-and-a-half games out of the playoffs with a bunch of teams to pass but nearly five games better than Houston, which is immediately below them in the standings.
Of course, some losses could help Sacramento fall beneath Cleveland, Washington, and Orlando in the East (Wednesday’s win against the Wizards didn’t help its tanking cause).
Boston in Cleveland on the second night of a back-to-back Wednesday to drop back down to .500 and fall into a tie with Atlanta for sixth in the East, a half-game ahead of the Knicks, who occupy the final playoff spot out East.
Kemba Walker sat against Cleveland because Boston played (and lost to) Utah the night before.
Marcus Smart played a full 30 minutes as a starter in the loss and finished with 19 points. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combined for 57.
The Cavs made as many threes as Boston (10) on fifteen fewer attempts. Darius Garland and Collin Sexton scored nearly as many points as Brown and Tatum but far more efficiently.
Tristan Thompson missed the game due to health and safety protocol. His absence means Boston doesn’t have the option of playing its two-big lineup.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Boston Celtics NBA Prediction: Boston wins what could be a high-scoring game.
The Kings have been playing unders lately. Boston has been playing overs.
Given some of the big men unavailable for this one, it should be a quick pace. Both teams should shoot a lot of threes and neither likes to particularly play a lot of defense.
But then there’s Boston, which plays well every few games. This could be one of them, given the Celtics just took an embarrassing loss and dropped to .500.
So better than play the over on a rather high total, take Boston and lay the points. It’s available at a flat minus-7 in some shops.
