2019-2020 NBA Previews – Kings Odds
Looking for 2019 Sacramento Kings Predictions? The Sacramento Kings are coming off of a very solid season where they finished just 4 games under .500 and just missed the playoffs finishing 9th in the conference. De’Aaron Fox took a big step forward last year and lead this team to a near miss in a very tough conference. That must have felt god for Kings fans to finally see some kind of improvement after years of languishing towards the bottom of the west. They also strengthened this team with key offseason signings, but this division just got a whole lot tougher.

The Sacramento Kings gave their fans plenty of reasons to cheer last year and they will be hoping this team can take just a small step forward and make their first postseason appearance since 2006. This Kings team will be better than last year, but there brutal division may have them falling short of their postseason hopes.
Trevor Ariza was a really big signing for this team as he brings plenty of scoring and experience to help these young players take the next step. Maybe even more important then that is his defensive skills which is one of the main points of concern for this Kings team last year.
Sacramento Kings Strengths:
Perimeter Scoring
Fox and Hield were both solid last year after taking big steps forward last year. Fox improved on his field goal percentage by 4.6% and improved his 3 point percent by 6.4% which really helped this Kings team tick on offense. His perimeter scoring, specifically his 3 point shooting will be critical to this team going into 19-20 especially if he can make yet another step forward to become a star point guard in the league.

Buddy Hield did not vastly improve on his percentages, but he improved upon his ppg by 7 points and certainly took advantage of his extra time on the court. His 42.7% 3 point percent is invaluable to this team and there are no indications he will be taking a big step backwards so he remains a big part of this team’s perimeter scoring and should remain a focal point of this offense overall.
Sacramento Kings Weaknesses:
Defense
This team falls victim to to the ills of many talented young teams and that is the defense side of things. They did do some things to address this problem in the offseason with the signing of Trevor Ariza, but will that be enough?
The unfortunate answer to that question is probably not as it is going to take a lot of improvement from these guys to remedy the 115.3 points per game they conceded last year. Their rebounding on that end of the floor was equally as bad as they ranked 29th overall in defensive rebounding.

The Kings will be hoping that getting rid of W. Cauley-Stein and adding D Dedmon helps fix their problems around the rim. Cauley-Stein ranked 53/53 in terms of shots defended inside 6 feet. Dedmon should be a big upgrade in that department, but once again I am not so sure that will be enough especially against the caliber of teams they will face this year in division.
Sacramento Kings Betting Prediction: 35-47
I really can’t see this going well as whatever improvements they make to their defense won’t be enough to matchup with the teams in their division. If this team would be playing in the Pacific division of last year I would say they would just barely sneak into the 8th spot as they should be marginally better all-round.
I am also concerned about their decision to sign Dedmon as a fix to their interior defensive problems as although Dedmon is a better defender then Stein the fact of the matter is that everyone was last year.
I am also not completely sold that Luke Walton is the answer to what ails the Sacramento Kings. His claim to fame was going 19-0 with the Warriors, but has since a pretty unimpressive stint with the Lakers so weather Walton will find success with this team is yet another question unanswered.
I think this team starts slow and likely struggles for some chemistry early on. I see them digging themselves a hole too big to dig themselves out of by the All-Star game which will have the Kings brain-trust thinking about 20-21 earlier then Kings fans would have liked.
