Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head last season, the Spurs won the series three games to one, while this campaign, the Spurs won the series two games to one.
In history, the teams have met on four occasions, with the Spurs taking the last three series, including the most recent meeting back in 2014.
Everything is a bonus for both these teams as they get to give the young cores experience in this environment. Sure, the Spurs have more expectations on them, but they are at least a year ahead of schedule, with many pundits picking them to win Larry O’B.
San Antonio is favored by 10.5 points with an over/under of 221.5 points.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs bottom line:
The Blazers have a stellar defense that will make life difficult for the Spurs youngsters with ample bodies they can throw at Wemby.
But the biggest question is, how will the Blazers score enough to make this a series? It feels like they’ll test the Spurs, but might be a player or secondary scorer short of making this a long series.

Trail Blazers Spurs Free Pick: Blazers +10.5
Here is my Trail Blazers Spurs free pick.
It’s only a matter of time before Victor Wembanyama takes over as the face of the league but this is his first playoff series and first time facing the 2026 Blazers. Copious questions abound…
- Is Wemby fully healed from the rib injury?
- How will he deal with the increased physicality of the postseason?
- Can the Spurs extend his minutes to a heavier workload and maintain his productivity?
- How will he adapt to game plans specifically for him?
- Is he ready to take another step or are our expectations for the savant too high?
The Blazers have depth they can throw at him, including Jrue Holiday, who is an incredible defender, and as a shorter player, he falls within the scheme of how teams started to shift smaller, more agile players onto him at season’s end. Keep an eye on Toumani Camara, who will find his way onto an All-Defensive team sooner than later and could be another option to put on Wemby.
Offense is the area of question for Portland, who rely on Deni Avdija, but who are the reliable secondary scorers to him? The Blazers shoot the third most 3-pointers, although they only connect on 34.3%. They also score a ton off second-chance opportunities, but the Spurs are the best defensive rebounding squad.
In their 62-wins the Spurs shot 37% from deep, but in their losses, they shot 31%. Portland ranked 15th in perimeter defense, holding teams to 35.8%.
For the Blazers to make this a series, they’ll need Avdija to get into the paint, get to the line, and for the team to excel both from the perimeter and on the glass. It’s a tall order!
That said, Portland has zero expectations on them and just collected an impressive win in the Play-In. They’ve got some quality vets on their mostly youthful squad, like Jrue Holiday and Jerami Grant.
Meanwhile, San Antonio relies primarily on a youthful core who are all getting their first playoff experience and are carrying the weight of expectations.
Although I expect the Spurs to win the series, this is a game I think the Blazers might be able to shock and catch San Antonio by surprise. For that reason, I’ll take the points.
