Friday night, November 23rd brings you NBA action as West meets East when the Phoenix Suns travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Bucks live from the Fiserv Forum.
This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season, as the Suns look to avenge a loss on the road on Wednesday night, and get back in the win column for the first time since the beat the Spurs back on the 14th of this month.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns have yet to win a game on the road still this season, as they fell short against Chicago on Wednesday night, even though they entered that game as the Favorites on the road. This will be the third game of a current four game trip, where they’ve already lost to the 76ers and Bulls.
The Suns, though a very young team, are struggling mightily in Igor Kokoskov’s first year as head coach. They’ve already bought out veteran C Tyson Chandler’s contract, and one can only assume that the same thing is going to happen with an underachieving Trevor Ariza, who only managed 9 points and two boards in 37 minutes on Wednesday.
The other veteran they brought in this year, Jamal Crawford, faired better against the Bulls, 16 points in 21 minutes off the bench, but his season average of 4.6 ppg and 1.6 apg isn’t really helping anyone on this team.
Devin Booker, the heart and soul of this team, led the way once again for the Suns with 23 points in 34 minutes. F TJ Warren added 21 points in 32 minutes, and rookie Deandre Ayton had another double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. PF Richaun Holmes added 14 points and 6 boards in 15 minutes off the bench.
The Suns have been linked to a possible deal with the Washington Wizards for PG John Wall, which begs the question of if and when that will ever come to fruition.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks just keep rolling as the season gets older day after day. Some thought their fast start was a fluke, but it’s beginning to look like the Bucks are legitimate title contenders coming out of the East this year.
The Bucks have now won four out of their last five games, with wins over Portland, Chicago and the Denver Nuggets twice. Two out of those three teams are currently in the playoff mix, and they have recent wins against Golden State, Toronto and Philadelphia to bolster their argument as a legitimate contender.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led all players with 33 points and 16 rebounds in their game against Portland on Wednesday night. He just missed a triple-double with 9 assists in 30 minutes of game time. The only starter who failed to notch double digits in scoring was C Brook Lopez, who had 3 points and 1 rebound in 20 minutes of action.
