The Hornets were among the 23 teams who made moves at the trade deadline, albeit a smallish move.
They picked up Brad Wanamaker from the Golden State Warriors to help offset the guard duties while LaMelo Ball is out healing from his fractured wrist.
Wanamaker was picked up in the offseason by the Dubs to help with guard duties but recently Jordan Poole and rookie Nico Mannion moved ahead of him in the rotation. The Hornets only had to cough up cash for Wanamaker.
Charlotte is rumored to be among the teams seeking to add buy-out candidate Andre Drummond to their roster.
As for Ball he’s expected to miss at least the next month potentially longer having already undergone surgery.
Despite the absence of their young rookie star the Hornets are continuing to roll along bringing a three-game win streak into this match following victories versus the Spurs Rockets and Heat.
On the season Malik Monk has scored 20 or more points seven times with two occasions over 30 points — both against the Miami Heat. He led the Hornets with 32 on Friday. Terry Rozier added a double-double of 26 points and 11 assists (plus five rebounds).
Devonte Graham (16), Gordon Hayward (11) and Miles Bridges (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Malik Monk (foot) and PJ Washington (leg) are both listed as probable for Sunday.
