Saturday, November 27th finds the Phoenix Suns facing the Brooklyn Nets in their first meeting this season.
Phoenix is on a four-game Eastern road trip with stops in San Antonio, Cleveland, and New York with Brooklyn the last stop on the tour. They have won all four games versus and pushed their winning streak to 15 in a row with the victory versus the Knicks on Friday.
Brooklyn last played Wednesday with a win/loss to the Celtics.
Last season, the squads played twice with the Nets winning both contests and are currently on a three-game win streak versus Phoenix. The teams are tied all-time with 46 wins each of their 92 matches.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns just keep rolling along going into Madison Square Garden and defeating the Knicks to extend the win streak and will try to keep it rolling in Brooklyn although they’ll be fatigued compared to the rested Nets.
In the 118-97 victory versus the Knicks, all five Suns starters scored in double-figures plus two reserves.
Devin Booker started the game on fire and never gave up finishing with 32 points on 14 of 27 and 4 of 9 from deep. Double-doubles were registered by Deandre Ayton – 14 points, 13 rebounds, and Chris Paul with 14 points, 10 assists plus four rebounds, and a steal.
The other double-digit contributors were Cameron Payne (13), Jae Crowder (11), Mikal Bridges (10), and Cameron Johnson (10).
Phoenix possesses the top field goal efficiency (47.9%), while ranking third in points (112.3), and in assists per game (26.7).
Abdel Nader (knee) was downgraded to out on Friday and will likely be questionable for Saturday. Frank Kaminsky (knee) and Dario Saric (knee) are both out indefinitely.
Brooklyn Nets
This was always going to be an exciting match with a preview of two teams who could be facing each other in the NBA Finals. That the Nets have been off since Wednesday while the Suns arrive on the second game of a back-to-back sort of takes a bit of shine off the match.
With the Suns winning on Friday they’re sporting a 15-game win streak but if they lose to a rested Nets squad is it a relative take on how these teams match up?
Working in the Suns’ favor could be the injuries. Kyrie Irving remains out but Nicolas Claxton (illness) and Joe Harris (ankle) are also both out indefinitely while Bruce Brown (hamstring) is questionable.
With Brown and Harris out it’s forced Steve Nash to start Patty Mills and Deandre Bembry which could take a toll on the reserve unit although having the extra rest helps.
Mills (23) led the scoring in the victory versus the Celtics while Durant pitched in 21 and Harden posted a double-double of 20 points with 11 assists, and seven rebounds.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Nets are 8-2 in the last 10 head to head
- The Nets are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings
- Over Under is 5-5 in the teams last 10 head to head matchups
- The Suns are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games.
- The total has gone over in 5 of Phoenix’s last 5 games.
Free Phoenix Suns vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
With equally talented teams getting two extra days of rest makes a massive difference. What will benefit the Suns was being able to take care of the Knicks early which allowed Monty Williams to keep Paul and Crowder’s minutes down.
Only Bridges (39) and Booker (35) played more than 32 minutes but they’ll have to come out and hit the Nets first because Brooklyn can score in bunches even against the best defenses.
That said, I think the streak ends in Brooklyn.
