76ers vs. Thunder Gameday
Sunday serves up six games on the NBA slate, including the Philadelphia 76ers on the road to face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Philly last played on Boxing Day, falling 102-109 to the Chicago Bulls. Four Sixers scored in double figures, led by Joel Embiid, who offered 31 points, while Tyrese Maxey added 27 points and eight assists.
Oklahoma City was part of the Christmas Day festivities, falling 102-117 to the San Antonio Spurs. It was the second loss in three days to the Spurs and their third this season, which is something, given OKC has only lost five games in total.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 22 points, joining four Thunder teammates who scored in double figures.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. OKC Thunder Odds & Last 5
Last year, the Thunder swept the two-game regular series, and this is the first meeting between the clubs this season.
Philly is 2-3 through their last five matches and holds the East’s fifth seed with a 16-13 record. This is the second of five road games for the Sixers. Of note, they’ll play seven of their next nine on the road.
Meanwhile, OKC may have met its match, considering they’ve only lost five games all season, with three being against the Spurs. And, the last two losses were by blow-outs – – something no other opponent has done to them. Regardless, they retain the league’s top seed at 26-5 and a 2.5 game lead over the Spurs.
OKC is favored by 15.5 points with an over/under of 227.5 points.
76ers Stats
Philly ranks 17th offensively (114.1), and 11th defensively (113.2), while producing the 15th-best net rating (+0.9), running a pace of 100.27, which ranks 20th overall.
The East’s fifth-place Sixers average 116.1 points per game while their opponents average 115.2 points. In terms of dimes and boards, Philly averages 24.8 (25th) and 45.1 (tied for ninth), respectively.
Team leaders* in key categories are Tyrese Maxey for scoring (30.8 points), assists (7.0), and steals (1.7), Andre Drummond for rebounds (9.4), and Adem Bona for blocks (1.4).

Philadelphia 76ers vs. OKC Thunder bottom line:
Two weeks ago, virtually every pundit had the Thunder earmarked as unbeatable and pegged to raise Larry O’B again. Flash forward, and three consecutive losses to the Spurs have given the league hope.
It could be as simple as the Spurs’ speedy guards are just a bad matchup for the Thunder. Regardless, OKC is still the best team in the league, but they have hit a tougher portion of their schedule, so they may have also come down to earth a bit.

76ers Thunder Free Pick: Sixers +15.5
Here is my 76ers Thunder free pick. Like the last match, it’s not a must-win for OKC, but they’ll want to flush that bad taste they’ve experienced in the last week to 10 days with a victory.
If there is a concern or red flag, it’s the play of Jalen Williams, who is still trying to rediscover his dominance following the wrist surgery this offseason.
How the Thunder bounce back in this match is important as they’ve had a bit of mystique tied to them this season until they played the Spurs. Watch for the Thunder to establish dominance early.
Ultimately, I can’t see OKC losing a third time in a row – – then again, I didn’t predict them losing three times to the Spurs in 12 days either.
Still, I like the Thunder to reestablish their dominance, although I’m antsy to touch the massive spread so I’ll take the points but OKC to win.

Funny how fast narratives flip.
The Oklahoma City Thunder went from:
“Are they chasing 73–9?”
to
“Does Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have enough help?”And the turning point? One constant problem.
