Saturday, December 3rd the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors meet for the first of four scheduled matches this season. Orlando will host a baseball set on December 9th and 11th while the final meeting will occur in Toronto on February 14th.
Both teams played the front side of a back-to-back set on Friday with the Raptors losing 105-114 to the Nets and the Magic losing 96-105 to the Cavaliers.
Last season, the squads played three times with Toronto taking two of the three contests. The Raptors hold the all-time record having bested the Magic in 54 of their 95 matches.
Orlando Magic
These two clubs have both been mired by injuries and like their opponent are starting to get back a few players although in the Magic’s case they are still waiting for the player who was considered their cornerstone prior to Paolo Banchero being drafted.
Prior to Jonathan Isaac’s injury, he had established himself as a two-way savant considered for Defensive Player of the Year and growing offensively. But the injury has taken him off the court for almost two consecutive years.
He last played on August 2nd, 2020 appearing in two matches after missing the prior 32 games that season. Updates on his status keep changing as he was expected to start the season but has yet to play.
Offense remains the issue for Orlando as they average 108.7 points per game ranking 28th overall. They shoot 46.8% from the field and 33.5% from the perimeter ranking 16th and 22nd respectively.
Defensively, Orlando holds their opponents to 114.2 points per game ranking 17th. The Magic allow opponents to shoot 47.1% from the field ranking 21st and foes shoot 34.6% from the perimeter ranking ninth overall.
Injury reports aren’t in yet but neither Mohamed Bamba (back) or Gary Harris (hamstring) played Friday despite being questionable. Jalen Suggs (ankle), and Chuma Okeke (knee) are out. Wendell Carter Jr. (foot) and Jonathan Isaac (knee) are out indefinitely.
Toronto Raptors
In the last two matches, the Raptors got crushed in the opening frame 29-40 to the Pelicans and 17-41 to the Nets. In Brooklyn, on Friday they were down by 36 points and just kept battling winning the remaining three quarters and making it a game in the closing minutes.
Toronto scores the 10th-fewest opening frame points but allows the seventh most. If they can clean that up they won’t have to expend so much energy constantly fighting to get back into matches.
On offense, the Raptors score 110.7 points per game (19th) shooting 44.6% from the field (27th) and 33.1% from deep (25th).
Defensively, the Raptors allow 108.5 opponent points per game ranking (7th) while they shoot 47.8% (25th) from the field and 34.9% from deep (11th).
Otto Porter Jr. (toe dislocation) and Precious Achiuwa (ankle) and not expected back for at least a few weeks.

Free Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
Getting out to a good start is essential for the Raptors who need to address that issue immediately if they want to be in the mix to win a seed that doesn’t require going through the play-in tournament.
Especially with the prospect of the Celtics up next following a loss to the Heat meaning they’ll be eager to take out their ire of losing just their fifth game this season. Similarly, the Magic will be in that position versus Toronto.
