Saturday, November 27th the Orlando Magic face the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first meeting between the clubs in the 2021-22 season.
The Cavaliers last played on Wednesday in a 115-120 loss to the Suns which extended Cleveland’s losing streak to five games in a row. The Magic are also riding a five-game losing streak following the 88-123 rout by the Bulls on the front side of a back-to-back on Friday.
Last season the teams played three times with the Magic sweeping the three contests and holding a current seven-game win streak against Cleveland that goes back to March 14th of 2019. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Cavaliers 58 of their 115 matches.
Orlando Magic
In the rout by the Bulls on Friday only three Magic players reached double-figure scoring.
Wendell Carter Jr. posted a double-double of 26 points, 10 rebounds as well as two assists, and two blocks.
The rookies were the other two who fared well with Franz Wagner registering 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a block.
Jalen Suggs is getting extra run time with Cole Anthony out due to a sprained ankle. Suggs registered 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, a block, and four turnovers.
Anthony (ankle), E’Twaun Moore (knee), and Michael Carter-Williams (ankle) are all questionable for Saturday. Markelle Fultz (knee) and Jonathan Isaacs (knee) are out indefinitely.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers enter today’s game having lost five games in a row and while they’ve been competitive in most of the losses they are clearly missing rookie Evan Mobley.
There is no shame in losing to a team on a double-digit win streak but it was clear in the match Wednesday just how much the rookie Evan Mobley has already become an integral part of the Cavaliers foundation.
Jarrett Allen delivered a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds six of which came on the offensive glass plus two assists. Darius Garland produced 19 points, seven assists, three assists, and a steal.
Lauri Markkanen also delivered a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds plus a steal. Despite the decimated roster three reserves also contributed double-figures with Cedi Osman leading the way scoring 23 points.
Veterans Kevin Love (14 points and eight rebounds) and Ricky Rubio (15 points, five assists, four rebounds) also put their mark on the match.
Great news for Cleveland as Mobley (elbow) has been upgraded to probable for Saturday as has Lamar Stevens (ankle). Collin Sexton (knee) is gone for the season.

Free Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction
The Cavaliers have the rest advantage and cover the spread 70 percent of the time on their home court while the Magic cover the spread 54.5 percent of the time on the road.
I liked the Cavaliers even before the news Mobley was probable but expect the Cavs to be celebratory with their talented rookie back on the court.
