Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder will finish up its schedule up to the All-Star Break with a game in Texas both Wednesday and Thursday.
Oklahoma City will have had three full days off before the first of those two games, at the Mavericks. Thursday’s first half finale is in San Antonio.
The Thunder had a poor start to the season and a rough stretch in the first half of February, when it won just one out of seven. Otherwise, OKC has not been bad.
But it has not been particularly good enough to make up for some of its rough patches. The Thunder has just three winning steaks this season, two of two games and one of three.
Hamidou Diallo has missed his team’s last two games, including its most recent double-digit loss to the Nuggets. He’ll miss this one too and hope to return after the break.
Diallo averages just about a dozen points per game this season and that’s despite playing sparingly at the start of the year. Hit hit double-digits in twelve consecutive games at the end of January and into February.
This is the first of three matchups scheduled this season between the two teams.
Since returning from a week-long absence due to coronavirus and the energy emergency in the state of Texas, the Mavericks have won four out of five.
They scored 130 on Orlando to win by six on Monday. Luka Doncic had 33 and came an assist shy of a triple-double. Jalen Brunson scored 24 off the bench.
Willie Cauley-Stein left the game with a thumb injury and didn’t return. The injury was ruled a sprain and he’s considered questionable for this game.
This will be the final game of the first half for Dallas. It will get a longer break than most teams but then come right out of the second half gates with a back-to-back, the second night of which will come in Oklahoma City.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Head to Head: The Thunder is 7-3 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
- Head to Head: The Thunder is 6-4 ATS in the last 10 head to head meetings
- Head to Head: Over/Under is 5-5 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Prediction: OKC works an upset, or at least comes close enough to cover.
The Thunder is scuffling a bit but Dallas does not play much defense and that just may be what OKC needs to get a win before the break.
Much of what the Thunder does comes off hustle, defense, and transition. OKC will direct its efforts in this one to the defensive side of the ball, mainly in slowing down Doncic.
If Dallas isn’t able to score at will against the Thunder, which can be hard to do at times, it will find itself in a game being decided by defense.
I don’t like the sound of that matchup for the Mavericks. Considering the trajectory of the two teams at the moment, Dallas will be a solid favorite and will be worth fading for this game.
