On Wednesday, December 7th, the OKC Thunder face the Memphis Grizzlies in their second of four scheduled meetings this season. Memphis won the initial meeting (121-110) on November 18th. OKC will play host on December 17th and April 9th.
Both teams played Monday with OKC defeating the Hawks 121-114 while Memphis beat the Heat 101-93.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Grizzlies taking two of the three contests. The Thunder holds the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 65 of their 99 matches
OKC Thunder
Don’t look now but the Thunder are inching closer to .500 and with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the league in 30-point performances the prospect of them being closer to a playoff team than a tanker is top of mind.
Clearly, it would behoove the Thunder to tank but head coach Mark Daigneault has his youngsters competing regardless of score or circumstance.
Of all the young teams this one stands out for how they adapt quickly from mistakes and while Daigneault won’t be in the conversation for Coach of the Year the fact he’s got his charges playing with a no-quit attitude regardless of the score is impressive.
The Thunder score 117.0 points per game ranking sixth. OKC ranks 20th shooting 46.4% from the field and ranks 20th from the perimeter shooting 33.9%.
Defensively, the Thunder rank 29th for opponent points allowed per game with 117.7 scored. Their foes shoot 46.7% from the field which ranks 14th and 35.6% from the perimeter ranking 17th.
Kenrich Williams (knee) is out. Chet Holmgren (foot) is out for the season.
Memphis Grizzlies
That the Grizzlies pulled off the win versus the Heat isn’t necessarily surprising given where each team is seeded. However, it’s how they won or rather who they won with …
Both Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. were sidelined and the Grizz were playing a back-to-back while the Heat had Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro back from injury yet they were held to a measly 93 points!
Offensively, the Grizzlies score 114.8 points per game ranking 10th overall. Memphis shoots 46.0% from the field ranking 21st, and 36.1% from the perimeter ranking 12th.
Defensively, Memphis allow their opponents to score 112.8 points per game (14th). Opponents shoot 46.1% from the field (9th) and 36.2% from deep (20th).
Ziaire Williams (knee) is questionable, Jake LaRavia (foot) is doubtful. Desmond Bane (toe), and Danny Green (knee)are out.
NBA Betting Trends:

- The Thunder are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games.
- The Grizzlies are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games at home.
- The Thunder are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games on the road.

Free OKC Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Prediction:
The Thunder are on a recent tear having won three in a row and five of their last six. In fact, if you take a look at the betting trends they are playing almost identically to the Grizzlies in that span.
In the Morant era, the Thunder hasn’t performed well but in fairness, it’s been during the tanking campaigns so it’s not necessarily indicative of their capabilities.
Unlike the Heat who succumbed to the undermanned Grizzlies, the Thunder won’t take them for granted — they don’t take ANY team for granted. But the NBA injury report doesn’t list Morant or Jackson Jr. so I’m inclined to take the Grizz in this one (and the side prop bet on SGA scoring 30!).
