New York Knicks
New York enters the start of its current back-to-back tied with Boston and Miami for fifth in the East.

RJ Barrett has not taken a leap in his sophomore year but he has made steady progress in the right direction.

Detroit Pistons
Detroit lost to Sacramento on Friday in its continued plunge in the Eastern Conference, which it leads in losses.
Detroit has a three-game “lead” for ping-pong balls on the rest of the conference and trails only Minnesota (by two games) out West.
When the young rookie Killian Hayes went out for the season a couple of months ago, Detroit still had Derrick Rose to run the point.
When it traded Rose, Delon Wright handled the point guard duties and did it reasonably well.
Now Wright is out for at least a couple weeks and Dennis Smith has taken over the job, recently jettisoned by the Knicks.
The key piece in the Kristaps Porzingis trade scored 17 points and six assists against the Kings on Friday. He will have lots of motivation to have a big game in this one.
