The Knicks took a home loss to the Clippers on Sunday and now face a tough spot in the second game of a back-to-back with travel in between.
Los Angeles was not slowed by New York’s defense in the least Sunday evening in a game that ended 129–115.
Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 28 points on 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Five other guys finished in double-figures with two more combining for seventeen.

Both teams turned it over just seven times but the Clippers’ superior shooting was the difference, at least in the one game.
Immanuel Quickley had a second consecutive 25-point game and has his three highest scoring outputs over New York’s last four games.
He, RJ Barrett and Julius Randle are fast becoming an elite scoring trio but part of the reason is that it has to be. The Knicks don’t get much of anything else from anybody else and that only makes things harder on the three.
Quickley has managed to maintain a three-point percentage in the mid-30s so far but he is not yet a good enough shooter to stay there on the sort of volume he’s taken of late (eight attempts in three of his last four games).
Chicago Bulls
Zach LaVine has taken the leap to stardom in this his seventh season in the NBA and he’s making believers out of the naysayers.
Once dismissed as a flashy scorer who didn’t offer much else, LaVine has become deadly efficient while upping his rebound and assist averages to each over five per game.
He’s already earning close to $20 million per year and he’s up for free agency again not this summer but next. If he continues to score 27 points per game on a .609 e-field goal, he’ll come close to doubling his salary.
But as good as LaVine has been, the Bulls haven’t won consistently. They lack leadership in the form of a true point guard and muscle on the glass.
Wendell Carter Jr. had not quite taken the step forward Bulls fans had hoped he would at the start of his third season but they miss him now that he’s out for a few weeks with a quad injury.
The seventh overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft won’t be evaluated until the end of the month. In the meantime, the Bulls will be even more hard-pressed to compete on the boards.
