Even though pretty much every team except Phoenix is in the hunt in the Western Conference, it’s still a sign of success for the Sacramento Kings who are currently in 9th place. If the Kings want to be postseason talks once the calendar turns to 2019, they have to get better at the Golden 1 Center where they are just 6-5 this year.
Much like Sacramento needs to improve at home, the Minnesota Timberwolves (who are 1.5 GB from the Kings) need to improve on the road. The Wolves are only 2-10 away from Minneapolis this season. The Wolves are in game three of a four game trip out West and have dropped the first two to Portland and Golden State. Even so, Minnesota is favored by 2 on Wednesday.

The Wolves are in game three of a four game trip out West and have dropped the first two to Portland and Golden State. Even so, Minnesota is favored by 2 on Wednesday. Nobody doubts the talent of Minnesota – at least at home. The only two road games the Wolves have won this year are against Brooklyn and Cleveland.

Sacramento is a fast paced team that is 2nd in the NBA in possessions but the Wolves play things pretty close to the vest, having broken 112 points just twice in the last 10. That makes Wednesday’s O/U of 228 really tough to call.
Bigs on the block are one of Sacramento’s biggest advantages in this contest. The Kings frontcourt will try to slow down Karl-Anthony Towns who has double digit rebounds in 7 of 8. Towns has two 31+ point games over his last three. Derrick Rose could also have a big night as he has 18 and 21 the last two games and could thrive in an up tempo game.

The Minnesota defense will also loom large in an effort to try and get their 3rd win of the season. Minnesota is climbing the ranks on that side of the court after some strong performances lately and now boast the 13th best scoring D in the league. The T’Wolves have held 7 of 10 opponents to 105 points or less.
Sacramento Kings
The Kings have won 3 of the last 4 games but taking a look at that a bit closer sees those wins came against Cleveland, Chicago, and Phoenix. If Sacramento truly wants to be taken seriously as a postseason contender in the West a win vs. a mid tier team like the Wolves would be a great starting point.
It’s obvious that oddsmakers don’t quite respect Sacramento yet making them two point home dogs against a team that has won just two road games all season. The Kings aren’t a stretch to win this at all, mainly because of their backcourt. De’Aaron Fox has come into his own with a 30 and 25 point night over his last three which includes 12 assists vs. Cleveland.

The Sacramento defense is 26th in the league in points given up per game, but they’ve played well lately. Five straight Kings opponents have been held to under 110 points which helps point to this total going on the ‘under’ side. The Kings buckled down vs. Chicago on Monday holding the Bulls to just 33 points in the 2nd half.

Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction:
Besides Minnesota’s poor road record, one of the reasons Sacramento is a solid wager on Wednesday is because they already have a win over the Wolves this season. On November 5th, the Kings notched a 121-110 win as +2 underdogs. Towns did have 39 and 19 in that game and the Wolves got 21 from Rose…and still lost by 11.
No matter who the opponents may have been, Sacramento is playing with confidence right now. Being back home has to help, especially as Minnesota is on the road for the third straight game.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Kings +2
The Sacramento front court is able to neutralize Towns while the Kings backcourt gives Minnesota fits.
