Friday, November 9 finds the Minnesota Timberwolves traveling to California to face the Sacramento Kings as the teams enter their first full month of play in the 2018-19 regular season.. Both teams were last in action Wednesday when Minnesota lost to the Lakers while the Kings lost to the visiting Raptors.
Last season, the Timberwolves swept the three game series versus the Kings, but the prior season the Kings won three of four.
The Wolves hold the all-time record having bested the Kings 57 of their 110 matches.
When Derrick Rose connects on 7 of 9 from deep and Jimmy Butler hits 5 of 8 triples it usually would result in a victory, but the Wolves lost by four points to the Lakers.
The young Wolves continue to struggle though Wiggins was better in the recent game (19 points).
Karl-Anthony Towns continues to struggle however and it begs the question how much of it has to do with Butler and how much is tied to opponents knowing he can be lured out to the field and forced to shoot.
The Wolves are still win-less on the road 0-7 and will be keen to clear that hurdle.
Jeff Teague (knee contusion) missed the past five games due and is questionable Friday against the Kings. Justin Patton (foot surgery) will miss an extended period of game action.
De’Aaron Fox and Willie Cauley-Stein continue to improve and look to be future cornerstones of the Sacramento franchise. The Kings up tempo pace surprised many teams early in the season, but now opponents are dialed into stopping them in transition.
The trio of Stein (24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists), Fox (20 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound) and Buddy Hield (24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) made things interesting against Toronto, but the best team in the East so far easily took over in closing time.
Sacramento’s four losses are all to top squads – the Pelicans, Nuggets, Bucks and Raptors, so they are beating the mediocre teams and squads ranking in their same tier.
No injuries to report for the Kings.

Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction: Kings
Pull out the team lineups and logically one would assume this should be an easy victory for the Wolves. But, then factor in the Jimmy Butler drama, Karl-Anthony Towns struggle and the Wolves being win-less on the road. Additionally, consider the Kings have only lost to the elite teams and it’s easy to believe Sacramento could keep the Wolves win-less on the road.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Kings ATS
Sacramento score the 117.5 points per game on average (5th best in NBA) while the Wolves allow teams to score 117.4 points per game on average. Granted, if Jimmy Butler plays this could change the dynamic, but let’s go with the law of averages.
