Minnesota is into a tough stretch right now. They are without their best player and so far the returns have been poor.
Portland might be healthy but they are not playing great. Whenever you see them they leave you wanting more.
The Blazers should be able to get a comfortable win in this spot. Minnesota has some dudes but not enough.
Karl-Anthony Towns is out. Right now there is no definitive date for his return.
In his absence, the Wolves become an even more guard oriented team. D’Angelo Russell scored 33 points in their last game, a loss at Denver.
No Towns also means more shots for Malik Beasley and rookie Anthony Edwards. Both can put the ball in the basket and not much else.
Ed Davis is getting the starts at the center position. He is going his best to rebound the ball but is not much of a scoring threat.
Juancho Hernangomez has an intriguing offensive game. He scored 25 points in the loss in Denver and he can shoot the ball. Perhaps this stint gives him more confidence.
Jarrett Culver is looking more and more like a bust every day. He can’t score in the NBA and if he is making a difference defensively it is hard to measure on a team that is 28th in the league in points allowed.
I was not a big fan of this Timberwolves team before the season. With Towns, it might work, without him, there are going to be some ugly nights.
Portland Trail Blazers
Portland has dropped three of their last four including a home game against Chicago. That is not going to work if this group want to be a playoff team.
Something is up with Damian Lillard too, his shooting is down this season and he seems to have lost his bounce. Maybe he is dealing with something minor or wasn’t quite ready with the short offseason.
Enes Kanter has always been able to score. He is actually outscoring starter Jusuf Nurkic, in fewer minutes, and outrebounding him too. That is a development we didn’t see coming, though it could just be a product of playing against lighter second-unit players.
While Lillard has struggles CJ McCollum has been great. He is actually leading the team in scoring and making over 40% of his threes.
NBA Betting Trends:
- MIN are 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 games overall.
- POR are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
- POR are 21-9 ATS in their last 30 Thu. games.
Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Trail Blazers NBA Prediction:
The Blazers are going to be the favourites in this spot. Maybe there is a buying opportunity here with the Blazers form down recently.
The fact that Towns is unavailable is definitely baked into this one. The fact that Portland has good center talent and depth to fully exploit that might not be.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Trail Blazers ATS
I think Portland is at least -7 here. I would bet them up to -10.
