NBA Betting Total O/U:
The slumping Minnesota Timberwolves will travel south and lock their eyes onto the rising Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center Friday night for their first meeting between the two teams in the the 2020-21 NBA season.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The struggling Timberwolves will enter Friday with the worst record in the NBA at 6-19 along with carrying a 2-11 road record which is the second worst away record in the league only to the Detroit Pistons at 1-11. Minnesota has lost 2 of their last 8 including a 119-112 loss Wednesday night at home to the Los Angeles Clippers. The silver lining in the loss was Karl Anthony-Towns finally made his long awaited return from COVID protocols after missing the previous 12 games. His presence was much needed as he was able to post a double double with 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
This could be the momentum swing Minnesota was looking for as they have simply been abysmal without Towns in the lineup. Now that the alpha of the team is back in front of the pack lets see if the Timberwolves can claw their way out from the bottom of the league.
Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets have proven to be one of the most exciting teams to follow this season. The emergence of rookie LaMelo Ball has got the NBA universe buzzing with excitement. They will enter this contest with the 7th best record in the East behind the Pacers. Charlotte dropped their last game Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies 130-114. Terry Rozier led the effort for the Hornets with a 34-point performance but failed to secure the victory for his side. Miles Bridges added a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hornets are led by Gordon Hayward wrong as his play has proved some doubters wrong who believed he wasn’t worthy of the contract he was given this off season. He is averaging 22.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Terry Rozier follows with 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. #3 overall pick and Rookie of the Year frontrunner LaMelo Ball continues to play well and has seen an increase in minutes for that reason along with an injury to Devonte Graham. Ball is averaging 14.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, along with team bests of 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Minnesota is 13-12 ATS

- Charlotte O/U are even at 12-12
Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Charlotte Hornets NBA Prediction:
Minnesota carries the worst record in the league along with the 2nd worst road record by a wide margin. However, the majority of their season has been without big man Karl Anthony-Towns whos the engine that keeps this train moving and on the tracks. He had a solid first game back and he will look to build upon that in this matchup after having a day off to rest and recover. This will also be the first matchup between 2 of the top 3 picks in the previous NBA Draft, Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Ball is the ROY frontrunner and continues to thrive is his newly elevated starting roll. The spread is not yet out for this one and that should play a large factor in who I lean with as both are about even on the season ATS. For now I’ll just say Charlotte wins at home.
