Wednesday, January 27th, the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors will play for the first time in the 2020-21 campaign.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Bucks winning two of the three contests. Milwaukee holds the all-time record between the squads with 53 victories in the team’s 92 meetings.
Milwaukee Bucks
Consecutive losses to the Nets and Lakers had the Bucks focused to get back in the win column which they did in their most recent game versus the Hawks winning 129-115.
Jrue Holiday may wish he hadn’t given the Raptors some chalkboard fodder by stating “these are games we feel we should win” implying they are easier opponents.
That’s the type of disrespect the Raptors have feasted on the past seven seasons. However, Holiday does have a point given the Raptors’ early struggles and potential of missing at least one of their All-Stars on Wednesday.
Versus Atlanta, Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds plus eight assists. Khris Middleton served up 19 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Bobby Portis (21), Jrue Holiday (15), Brook Lopez (12), and Bryn Forbes (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
The Bucks arrive in Tampa Bay with a full complement of players and no injuries to report.
Toronto Raptors
In their initial ten matches, Toronto collected a measly two wins but was dealing with the odd circumstance of having to play in Tampa Bay.
Through the last seven games Toronto has won five times and seemingly got back on track.
Although the Raptors split the two games at the Pacers Fieldhouse there were palpable positives to carry forward. The victory against the Pacers was achieved without Kyle Lowry or Pascal Siakam in the lineup.
In the loss, Lowry returned but as he’s been wont to do in his career he struggled after missing numerous games shooting 2 of 11 from the field.
He needs two points to join DeMar DeRozan and Chris Bosh as Raptors who’ve scored 10,000 points and realistically should supplant Bosh (10,275) before the end of this season.
Fred VanVleet led the scoring with 25 points while Norman Powell (24), and OG Anunoby (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
As noted recently, Aron Baynes has seemingly figured out the Raptors system and through the last five games is gaining double-digit playing time as a result. .
Pascal Siakam is dealing with swelling in his knee that held him out of the last two games and he remains questionable for Wednesday. Patrick McCaw has yet to play since offseason knee surgery.
NBA Betting Trends:
- MIL are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Wed. games
- Under is 17-5 in TOR last 22 home games.
- Underdog is 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
For as much as the Raptors have turned the corner and Holiday’s words could inspire them they’ll have a tough time beating the Bucks especially if Siakam can’t play.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Raptors +6.5
Milwaukee has the 27th ranked perimeter defense while the Raptors make the second most triples. Additionally, Toronto allows the second-fewest points in the paint, but again without Siakam, they’ll have a hard time with Antetokounmpo.
I’m leaning Bucks but if Siakam plays I’d be equally inclined to pick the Raptors to pull out a close win.
