It’s an Eastern Conference matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls, the second of a back-to-back between these two teams.
Currently out of the top 8 seeds in the East, the Bucks are looking to get over a tough December which saw them lose three straight to the Hawks, Wizards, and Raptors. The Bulls are starting to find themselves again after adjusting to the departures of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
Milwaukee was starting to look good late in November and the first week of December. However, the Bucks have faltered, losing three straight and dealing with the ankle injury of star player Giannis Antentokounmpo.
Giannis is really coming into his own in his third NBA season. So far this year, he’s averaging 22.3 points per game along with nine rebounds and six assists. This is his breakout year and it’s making the Bucks a better overall team, despite the recent losses.
It remains to see how Giannis will play with an injured ankle against an improving Bulls team. Without him, the Bucks will be hard pressed to win in the United Center.
The Bucks are middle of the road on both offense and defense, averaging a 17th best 104 points per game while giving up 103.6 per game.
Unfortunately, the losses have seen the Bucks give up more than that 103.6 PPG. In the last three games, Milwaukee has given up 110, 110, and 122 points to opponents, all leading to losses.
The defense will have to show up to stay with a Chicago Bulls team that has started to find its rhythm.
The Bulls will be looking to get back on track after a tough start to December. Chicago has lost four of six, including a 99-94 loss to the inferior Minnesota Timberwolves.
An ankle injury to starting point guard Rajon Rondo definitely contributed to that loss to the Wolves and it remains unclear if he will suit up in either game against Milwaukee. If he doesn’t, the Bulls will have problems spacing the floor and generating half-court offense.
Newly acquired Dwayne Wade continues to show why he’s one of the greats. He’s having a solid season, posting 20 points and 3.6 assists per game. He has gelled nicely with this new Bulls offense and is being used wisely, playing just about 31 minutes per game.
The defense of the Bulls has been a major strong point for the team. Ranked 5th in opposing points per game at 99.8, the Bulls are stifling defenses and preventing teams from putting up 110 or 115 per game.
This has helped them gut out wins despite only scoring 102.6 PPG themselves.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Chicago is 1-5 ATS in its last five games
- The Total has gone OVER in five of Milwaukee’s last six games
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction:
Key injuries to Giannis on the Bucks and Rondo on the Bulls make this a slightly tougher prediction. If one is out, it makes the other team immediately better.
Assuming both play, I like the Bulls to take the W at home, considering how solid the team defense has been.
