(29-12) Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks (13-29)
The Bucks lost to the Wizards on Friday night, which sounds bad for a team that entered the day with the fewest losses in the league but really wasn’t a big deal.
The Wizards are scrappy now and they’re pretty good at home. The spearhead of the scrappiness, Tomas Satoransky, got his first triple-double; Bradley Beal scored 32; and both Jeff Green and Trevor Ariza shot well. Oh, and Giannis didn’t play.
The Bucks initially listed the Greek Freak as probable, which is the only concerning part of this. Otherwise, it looks like a rest day for his lower body (hip/quad were listed). If it was just rest, he’ll play this game but the Bucks may be thinking they don’t need him so keep an eye on the reports.
Milwaukee whooped up on the Hawks, who, by the way, the Bucks’ current head coach coached last season, by 32 just over a week ago. Antetokounmpo only played 22 minutes on that night.
This could be a night to include a Milwaukee bench guy to your fantasy lineup, either Pat Connaughton, DJ Wilson (if he plays), Tony Snell, or Ersan Ilyasova (who started for Giannis on Friday).
It looks like the Hawks are going to battle with the Cavaliers, Knicks and Bulls for the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The Lottery knows no conference affiliation, though, so throw the Suns in there. I could see the Pistons getting involved and maybe one more team from the West (Memphis, most likely).
So if the goal is losing, and, know it, the goal is losing, the Hawks didn’t play very well on Friday night in a 123–121 win in Philadelphia.
Jimmy Butler intentionally missed a free throw with less than :02 left and Ben Simmons, who committed a massive violation, batted the ball up and right to a big who wasn’t Joel Embiid. Whoever the guy was, he missed a point-blank tip and the Hawks held on to the costly win.
“Red Velvet” Kevin Huerter scored a career-high 29 points in the win; John Collins had 25; Jeremy Lin and Alex Len were the only bench players to score with nine apiece.
