Timing is everything with the Magic on the poor end of the health yardstick, as Franz Wagner injured his ankle (it looked worse than it was) and will miss this game as well as the next two to four weeks because of it.
The Magic just got Paolo Banchero back, so this is a real gut punch to a squad that was just starting to get into a rhythm and will now need to rely on PB, Suggs, and Desmond Bane in Franz’s absence.
The Heat’s recent loss to the Magic witnessed Miami lose for the second time when leading at the half. Per John Schuhmann they have the NBA’s biggest differential when leading at the half (13-2) versus when they trail (1-8).
As for the Heat, Tyler Herro (toe), Davion Mitchell (groin), and Pelle Larsson (hip) are all listed as day-to-day after all three sat out the last match.
Ultimately, it’s the Heat who have the most experience in this type of setting, but the Magic core have last postseason to draw from. Furthermore, Miami has struggled on the road (4-7), so I’ll take Orlando and the points.
