Wednesday, November 24th, finds the Miami Heat facing the Minnesota Timberwolves in their first meeting this season. Minnesota last played Monday in a win versus the Pelicans while the Heat defeated the Pistons on the front side of a back-to-back set.
Last season, the teams played twice each winning on their home court. The Heat holds the all-time record having bested the Wolves in 34 of their 62 matches
Miami Heat
Although the Heat has feasted at home (6-1) they haven’t performed as dominantly on the road (6-5). They did manage to get above .500 with the win in Detroit.
Several of the starters were questionable to play Tuesday including PJ Tucker and Bam Adebayo both suffering from an illness and Duncan Robinson who is nursing a sore knee.
All three participated although Tucker did struggle in the match playing the fewest minutes of the starters (22) and didn’t score however he did grab six rebounds.

Adebayo didn’t show any signs of illness scoring 15 points (6 of 10) adding nine rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Similarly, Robinson was able to impact the victory with 11 points including shooting 50 percent from the field (4 of 8) as well as the perimeter (3 of 6).
With so many Heat players participating while dealing with illness or nagging injuries it was Kyle Lowry who took charge orchestrating the offense and collecting 15 points, six rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Jimmy Butler had a rough shooting night (4 of 13) but got to the line nine times (hit seven) scoring 15 overall with nine rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Marcus Garrett (wrist) was downgraded to out Tuesday but will be reassessed for this match. Markieff Morris (neck) hasn’t played since the incident in Denver joining Victor Oladipo (knee) as out indefinitely.
Minnesota Timberwolves
At season start I was all in on the Timberwolves finding an identity and riding the Big Three of Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell.
Although I wasn’t confident they could deliver on the defensive end of the hardwood the offensive brilliance of head coach Chris Finch had me believing the Wolves could be a dark horse to nab one of the play-in spots.
Then they lost six in a row and eight of nine and it seemed Minnesota was in line for another lottery-bound season. But in recent games, the Timberwolves have found a groove winning four games in a row.
In those matches, they were strong offensively but also held the opponents under 100 points. While this run included lower-tier clubs like the Spurs and Pelicans they also did this to teams like the Kings and Grizzlies who rank 12th and 10th on the offensive side of the court respectively.
In the victory versus the Pelicans, all five Wolves starters plus Jaden McDaniels produced double-figure scoring nights. KAT (28 points, 10 rebounds) and Jarred Vanderbilt (16 points, 11 rebounds) delivered double-double efforts.
Josh Okogie (back) is questionable.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Wolves are 6-4 in the last 10 head-to-head contests.
- The teams are 4-4-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
- Over Under is 9-1 in the teams last 10 head to head matchups
Free Miami Heat vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
This isn’t a straightforward choice given the Wolves’ recent winning streak. Miami has played three prior sets of back-to-back matches and is 2-1 on the second night with a close loss to the Clippers.
Two key areas that have me leaning toward picking the Heat are tied to miscellaneous categories where the Wolves struggle. Minnesota gives up 17.9 points off turnovers and 15.5 second-chance points
Miami averages 17.9 and 14.7 points in those scenarios giving them a decided advantage.
