Saturday, December 4th finds the Miami Heat facing the Milwaukee Bucks for the second meeting between the clubs this season. Miami won the initial meeting 137-95 on October 21st.
The Heat are playing a back-to-back set having beat the Pacers 113-104 on Friday while the Bucks last played Thursday in a 93-97 loss to the Raptors.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Bucks taking two of the three contests. The Heat holds the all-time record with 72 wins in 119 matches.
Miami Heat
It’s going to be a tough month to six weeks for the Heat as they deal with the loss of Bam Adebayo who underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb.
Although the Heat has dealt with injuries to their core none have been of the long-term variety and Adebayo’s comes while Jimmy Butler is also out after falling hard and hurting his tailbone.
Despite being shorthanded the Heat were able to overpower the Pacers and win on Friday with Kyle Lowry stepping up his offensive production to compensate for the missing players.
Lowry scored a season-high 26 points including six 3-pointers plus nine assists. Duncan Robinson who has struggled from the perimeter this season found the range early adding 24 points featuring four 3-pointers.
Tyler Herro joined in with three 3-pointers and 18 points. Gabe Vincent and Omer Yurtseven each chipped in 12 points as the other double-digit scorers.
Miami is so shorthanded the seldom utilized Udonis Haslem even made a brief six-minute appearance.
Butler won’t play on Saturday as per the injury report joining Markieff Morris (neck), Bam Adebayo (thumb), Victor Oladipo (knee) on the sidelines.
Milwaukee Bucks
The eight-game win streak for the Bucks came to an end in Toronto with Giannis Antetokounmpo taking the night off. Milwaukee who trailed for most of the game almost pulled off the win in the closing minutes as the refs made three big plays in clutch time.
Yes, you read that correctly and if you watched the game you know what I’m referring to as the Raptors who were the aggressors in the paint watched the Bucks take 25 free throws and collect only eight personal fouls until the final 2:24 of the game.
Toronto was assessed 24 personal fouls and took 14 free throws with six coming in the final 19.4 seconds of the game. Just as teams have been complaining about how the Nets are called differently this match highlighted how officials’ inconsistency is evident even on the same floor.
In the end, those 25 free throws almost got the Bucks the win as they shot 37.6 percent from the floor with four players scoring in double-figures.
Jrue Holiday was masterful with 26 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and a block. Bobby Portis posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Khris Middleton registered 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a block while Grayson Allen added 10 points.
In other Bucks news, Milwaukee signed DeMarcus Cousins to shore up their frontcourt depth now that Brook Lopez will be out following back surgery.
Antetokounmpo was downgraded to doubtful for Saturday implying “the rest” in Toronto had more to do with Giannis taking a knee on knee hit at the end of the Hornets match. George Hill (knee) and Cousins (foot) are probable while Semi Ojeleye (calf) is questionable.
Donte DiVincenzo (ankle) and Brook Lopez (back) are out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Bucks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
- The Bucks are 6-4 in the last 10 head to head
- Over Under is 5-5 in the teams last 10 head to head matchups
Free Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction
Milwaukee had the edge with the Heat playing back-to-back but if Antetokounmpo is out it’s a more even match. Ultimately, it will come down to Lowry versus Holiday and Middleton’s offense versus I’m assuming PJ Tucker’s defense.
Another key factor is the Bucks favor protecting the paint over the perimeter allowing opponents to shoot the most opponent 3-point attempts (40.7). That also favors the Heat especially if Lowry, Robinson, Herro, and Co. get hot early.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Heat +5
If Giannis is upgraded to play switch the pick and take the Bucks to win but I still like the Heat to be closer than five points.
