Tuesday, November 30th the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors meet for the second time this season. In the initial meeting on November 24th, the Raptors won 126-113.
The teams both played Sunday with the Grizzlies beating the Kings and the Raptors losing to the Celtics.
Having just played each other last week the teams are aware of what worked and where they struggled but neither side is likely to have the same players on the court.
Ja Morant went down the game after the Raptors match with a leg injury while the Raptors were missing OG Anunoby and Khem Birch.
Last season, the squads played twice with each team winning on the other club’s court. The Raptors hold the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 26 of their 50 matches.
Memphis Grizzlies
The good news out of Memphis is Ja Morant didn’t suffer a season-ending injury, the bad news out of Memphis is he did suffer a sprained knee and will be sidelined for the immediate future.
Knowing they didn’t have their cornerstone, the Grizzlies buckled down and delivered an impressive 128-101 win versus the Kings.
Dillon Brooks led the way with 21 points, six rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Desmond Bane stepped up adding 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Jaren Jackson flirted with a double-double registering 17 points and nine rebounds along with two blocks. Brandon Clarke (15) and De’Anthony Melton (14) were the other double-figure contributors.
The Grizzlies has consistently ranked 30th on defense but buckled down versus the Kings winning the boards (68-49) and crushed Sacramento 72 to 36 in paint scoring.
Sam Merrill (ankle) is questionable while Morant (knee) is out indefinitely.
Toronto Raptors
I’m starting to wonder if Nick Nurse is just spinning stories because he said repeatedly OG Anunoby and Khem Birch would return during the six-game road trip but were still sidelined with the team back in Toronto.
Add Gary Trent Jr. to that list after he was kicked in the calf in Indiana suffering a deep bruise. All three are questionable for Tuesday. Goran Dragic left the team to deal with personal issues and likely won’t be back as the Raptors seek a trade partner for him.
Sunday, Toronto won the key categories like offensive glass, PIP, fastbreak scoring (27 to 7), and points scored off turnovers (15 to 4). But the one thing they couldn’t counter was the whistle losing the free-throw battle 31 to 16 which ultimately was the difference.
Nurse sensed it wasn’t going to be the Raptors’ day with the whistle using his coach’s challenge barely two minutes into the game on a bad call that was overturned but the subtle message didn’t work.
Fred VanVleet led the way with 27 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Pascal Siakam added 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Rookie Scottie Barnes was tasked to take more 3-pointers and delivered for his coach hitting 4 of 9 registering 21 points, seven rebounds (five offensive rebounds), three assists, two steals, and a block.
NBA Betting Trends:

- Over/Under is 4-5-1 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
- The total has gone over in 7 of Memphis’ last 7 games.
- The Grizzlies are 2-5 SU in their last 7 games on the road.
Free Memphis Grizzlies vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
Theoretically, this should be an easy win for the Raptors but their injury situation is so unstable at least three core players are missing every game which is what is expected Tuesday.
Similarly, the Grizzlies defense has been atrocious but without their leader, they could use this stretch to recommit to that end of the floor.
Historically Scotiabank has offered an edge for the Raptors who’ve won just twice in nine tries and need to take this seven-game home stand to rediscover the ‘We The North’ magic.
