Memphis Grizzlies
After defeating Washington on Wednesday in its first game back from the All-Star Break, Memphis lost at home to Denver Friday night, 103–102.
De’Anthony Melton hit a three to bring the Grizzlies to within one point with 30 seconds remaining. The defense got a stop and Ja Morant drove the ball to the basket one last time, where he met Nikola Jokic.
After contact in the air between the two, the official nearest the play blew his whistle and signaled foul. Play continued, however, and Memphis gave a foul after Denver gained possession a second later.
The louder whistles that followed commanded more attention and the officials ruled the foul on Memphis and Jokic’s defense on Morant legal. Denver through the ball in-bounds and ran out the final second.
Jokic led all scorers with 28. Brandon Clarke and Dillon Brooks paced Memphis with 20 points each. Jonas Valanciunas recorded his fourth consecutive double-double and 22nd in 29 games this season.
Despite reports of his return, Grayson Allen, who was active, did not play after completing the NBA’s concussion protocol.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder started well against the Knicks Saturday afternoon before going on to lose, 119–97.
New York outscored Oklahoma City by 31 points after the first quarter. RJ Barrett had the first 30-point game of his career and finished with 32. Seven Thunder players scored in double-digits but Al Horford was the high-man with just 16.
Both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Darius Bazley missed the game for OKC with injuries. After the game, Head Coach Mark Daigneault said neither injury is serious and both should return soon. Whether either one will return as soon as Sunday afternoon is unclear.
Two-way player Moses Brown had his second nice game in as many since the All-Star Break. He played a career-high 27 minutes off the bench and finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Grizzlies defeated the Thunder almost a month ago now in the first and only matchup of the season between these two teams, 122–113.

Free Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Prediction: Memphis.
Memphis has at least a slight advantage at most every spot on the floor. It will use superior depth to make this a relatively easy victory.
Of course, much of that prediction hinges on SGA again sitting out for OKC, which seems content to let its best player rest.
