On Wednesday, March 3rd, a Western-Conference matchup will take place between two California foes the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings. These teams have surprisingly not met all year and will play for the first time right before the midseason break. The Lakers are maintaining the 2nd seed in the Western Conference and the 2nd best record overall at 24-11 meanwhile the Kings continue another year of disappointment and are in 13th with a 13-21 mark.
Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles continues to play while superstar Anthony Davis is sidelined to heal from a projected 4 week calf injury. Its a problem that has hindered him all season and after reaggravating it the team has chosen to be wise and take the precautious route. The team figured they would need to tread some water in his absence but it quickly seemed that they would even struggle to stay afloat.
The Lakers were 1-5 without him and were recipients of strict criticism that they were in danger without him. Since that point they have won 2 straight home games including a 103-92 win over Portland and a 117-91 beatdown of Golden State. Los Angeles jumped out to a 20 point first quarter lead and a 30 point half time lead before taking their foot off the gas and coasting the rest of the way.
Every player on the roster saw some minutes in the blowout and 6 scored in double figures. LeBron James led the way once again with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in only 24 minutes. Kyle Kuzma added a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in only 20 minutes.
Sacramento Kings
There has got to be no other team as ready for the All-Star break as the Sacramento Kings are. The Kings are in the midst of a full on free fall down the Western Conference standings and are losers of 10 of their last 11 games. With the Lakers and Trail Blazers on deck that leaves little hope for the team to end the first half on a high note.
A perfect representation of the teams recent play was on display Sunday Night as the Kings managed to blow an 8 point lead with just 50 seconds remaining at home to the Charlotte Hornets. Sacramento made only 1 of their final 7 FTAs and allowed Malik Monk a go ahead 3 point play with just 1.4 seconds remaining. The loss will certainly put Luke Walton in a hotter seat than he already was as he has appears to be failing as a head coach once again and incapable of turning this young team around.
Sacramento had only 6 players in the scoring sheet but they all managed to finish in double figures.
Buddy Hield dropped a team leading 30 points with 7 assists, De’Aaron Fox spread the ball well in a 20 point and 14 assist double double, Marvin Bagley did well interiorly with a 24 point 10 rebound double double of his own, and lastly Harrison Barnes dropped a season high 28 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists in an all around great performance.
Based on these statlines you would assume the Kings won this game which is even more salt to the wound which is this season for them.

Free Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction
These two teams are simply not on the same playing field. Unfortunately for the Kings they are playing horrendously and are facing two of the top teams in the Western Conference before the All-Star break.
Los Angeles has seemed to have straightened their ship without Anthony Davis and will be traveling to Sacramento for their final game before the break and will want to enter it on a high note. This game shouldn’t be close and I expect the spread to reflect that once it is released. Take Los Angeles here.
