Los Angeles Clippers
Paul George missed his third consecutive game but the Clippers got a win over Minnesota on Wednesday, 119–112.
It was just Los Angeles’ first win in three games and second in its last five. The Fun Guy, Kawhi Leonard, went 13-for-25 to finish with 36 points, eight rebounds and five assists to match his five turnovers.
Lou Williams scored 27 points — his highest total in 363 days. Terance Mann continued to play well off the bench. He earned nearly 20 minutes of playing time and scored four with five rebounds, two assists and no turnovers.
Luke Kennard, meanwhile, played just a dozen minutes and missed his only shot. The Clippers’ rotation is still working itself out and it appears Kennard, whom the Clippers just traded for in the off-season, may be in the process of working his way out of the rotation once George returns.
LA’s last three losses have come by a total of eleven points. It is still the fourth-best team in the entire NBA by net rating, at better than +7 per game over its opponents.
Chicago Bulls
Chicago, by contrast, is a -0.6, which is 18th in the NBA. It isn’t a good mark but it’s an improvement from how the team started and not too bad, relative to expectations.
The Bulls have won two of three, granted against a weak schedule (Orlando, Washington, New Orleans).
Zach LaVine scored a season-high 46 points against the Pelicans exactly a month after scoring his previous season-high of 45 against the Clippers.
LaVine would be worth the price of admission by himself this season. He needed just 25 field goal attempts and three free throws to net his 46, going 9-of-14 from three.
He’s scoring 28.2 points per game this season on .518 from the field and .425 from three, which makes him the only such player in the NBA.
The only guy who scores more than LaVine and shoots a better percentage from outside is Stephen Curry. The only one who scores more with a better overall field goal percentage is Joel Embiid.
And then there’s the fact that LaVine’s rebounds and assist averages are both over five for the first time in his career (in either department).

The Clippers won’t get this one easy. Chicago is a live dog here. In fact, give me the Bulls to pull the upset in a track meet.
