Second-place teams square off on Thursday as the LA Lakers travel North to face the Toronto Raptors. This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the clubs.
Los Angeles arrives on the heels of a loss to the Suns on Monday, ending their seven-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Raptors got back in the win column after consecutive losses with the defeat of the Blazers on Tuesday.
Scottie Barnes led the way for the Raptors against Portland with 28 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and two blocks. He shot 55.6% from the field and connected on three of his seven 3-pointers (shooting 42.9% from deep).
Three Raptors dropped 20 or more, with Immanuel Quickley (23 points) and Brandon Ingram (21 points) joining the party.

The loss on Sunday to the Knicks was a thorough butt whipping that has to register for the team up North. Clearly, part of their success was tied to injuries as they’d been relatively healthy, but without two starters, they looked mediocre at best.
Scottie Barnes was awarded the East’s Best Defensive Player for the month of November and is truly growing into a superstar of the ilk of Jimmy Butler (Swiss Army knife). He averages 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 stocks and is shooting 41.6% from deep.
While the Raptors are better defensively with JaKobe Walter starting, they are definitely missing the cutting and slashing from RJ Barrett, as it opens up the court.
He remains on the injury list; however, the Lakers have Luka Doncic listed as questionable while he deals with something personal.
Combine that with the Raptors winning eight in a row at home, and I’ll take them to win and cover.
