LA Lakers vs. Houston Rockets Odds & Last 5
For the past two campaigns, the Lakers have won the regular-season series, two games to one versus the Rockets.
There is a long-storied history of postseason meetings between these clubs as they’ve met on nine previous occasions. LA has won on six of those occasions, including the last time they tipped off in 2020.
To finish the season, the Rockets hit their stride, winning nine of their last 10 matches. LA had won 13 of 14 but then got hit by injuries to Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves, and the team finished 3-3 through the final six contests.
Houston is favored by 5.5 points with an over/under of 207.5 points.

LA Lakers vs. Houston Rockets bottom line:
When pundits are antsy to pick a young, inexperienced squad it’s because they tend to fall apart when the game gets tight or in closing out frames.
The Rockets epitomized that in Game 3 when they looked to be headed for a victory but coughed up the ball and allowed James the game tying 3-pointer to send the game to overtime.
Now they are in the unenviable position of needing to win four straight which is something that has never been done in the association and this team isn’t likely to break that trend. The only question remaining is whether the Lakers will sweep the series or need an extra game to complete the task.

Lakers Rockets Free Pick: Rockets -5.5
Here is my Lakers Rockets free pick.
Kevin Durant remains questionable to play and his presence is essential for the Rockets to at least force the Lakers to win the series on their home court.
LA has won three games with tape and staples and most importantly experience. Although he’s 41, LeBron James has been the best player on the hardwood and he’ll be wanting to finish things on Sunday so his squad gets rest and time for Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves to heal.
Reeves may play in this game, but if you’re the Lakers why bring him back now when you’ve got four chances still to close out the series.
LA is keying in on Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun on the defensive end, which may speak to some of the troubles the Rockets have had in the series.
Houston led Game 3 for 82% of the match but in clutch time they made dumb mistakes and choked the lead away then lost the game in overtime.
If they have pride they won’t want to be swept, so expect another strong effort like they brought in Game 3, but with KD making sure they remain calm to close out the match.
I’m honestly a bit torn because the Rockets have to know this series is over and they may decide to fold up shop not wanting to travel to LA but if Durant plays I’m banking on him forcing his young teammates to play with pride.
Therefore, take the Rockets to win and cover.

More from Ime Udoka on Kevin Durant’s treatment during Game 3, whether he expected KD on Rockets’ bench:
“I wouldn’t say expecting him or not. It’s kind of a medical decision if they want to get that treatment in. Obviously once you’re done with treatment you can come out [to… pic.twitter.com/NSSACQO6Uy
