Saturday, March 13th finds the Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns playing in their second meeting this season. The initial match was won by the Suns 125-117 on January 9th.
The Suns hold the all-time record between the clubs with 50 wins in 92 meetings. Last season, the clubs played twice each winning one of the contests.
Indiana Pacers
It’s been a tough slog for the Pacers who lost TJ Warren early and then discovered Caris LeVert had a mass on his kidney in his trade physical. That severely depleted the Pacers’ depth at the wing but the discovery likely saved LeVert’s life.
Now the great news– LeVert progressed much faster than expected and will make his Pacers debut in this match.
The scheduling gods didn’t do Indiana any favors doling out a three-game road trip to start the second half featuring matches versus the Lakers, Suns, and Nuggets. The Pacers play the Lakers Friday in the back-to-back set.
This posting is prior to the game on Friday so the unknown is whether the Pacers will enter having lost or won and how extensively the starters were utilized.
In the last game prior to the Lakers match the Pacers lost to the Nuggets despite six players reaching double-digits including all five starters.
Myles Turner (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Domantas Sabonis (10 each of points, rebounds and assists) in double and triple-double efforts.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns extended their current streak to five in a row with an important victory versus the Blazers. It’s their 17th win in the last 20 games and most importantly gives them the tiebreak versus the Blazers.
Then again the Suns aren’t showing any signs of slowing down, winning when it matters most. In the 16 matches played versus the currently seeded playoff teams, they’ve won 11.
Phoenix is two games back of the Jazz who they beat in their only meeting this season and are leading the Pacific Division.
Four of their five losses to playoff teams were by four points. The other was an overtime loss to the Nuggets. That’s a product of how well the Suns play in close games and in clutch time — a quality Chris Paul has brought to the team.
In the victory versus Portland, they trailed by 11 points midway through the third but roared back to take the lead at 10:22 of the final frame never to relinquish it.
Seven Suns scored in double-figures with Devin Booker leading the way with 35 points.
Cameron Johnson (protocols) is the only player possibly out on Saturday.

Free Indiana Pacers vs. Phoenix Suns NBA Prediction:
This will be an emotional game with LeVert returning to the hardwood. It’s not like the Pacers will expect him to do much in his first game but just his presence alone after what he’s been through will empower Indiana.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: LeVert lifts Pacers but Suns win
Even with that motivation, it’s unlikely to be enough to propel Indiana past the red hot Suns.
