Monday, November 29th, finds the Indiana Pacers facing the Minnesota Timberwolves in their first meeting this season. Minnesota last played Saturday in a double-overtime slugfest where they outlasted the 76ers while Indy beat the Raptors on Friday.
Last season, the teams played twice with Indiana winning both contests and the Pacers have a current five-game win streak versus the T-Wolves. The Pacers hold the all-time record having bested the Wolves in 41 of their 62 matches
Indiana Pacers
After dropping a heartbreaker to the Lakers in overtime and already having lost twice to the Raptors this season Indiana came out with a vengeance on Friday and took down Toronto 114-97.
The Pacers jumped on the Raptors knowing they were limping into Indy to finish their six-game Western road trip. Seven of the nine Pacers who played scored in double-figures with three of the starters registering double-doubles.

Specifically, Domantas Sabonis led the way with a massive 23 points, 18 rebounds night. Myles Turner collected his version with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Malcolm Brogdon delivered 11 points and 12 assists.
Although the ball wasn’t dropping on the perimeter the Pacers made up for it with ball movement (31 assists) and scoring in the paint (60 points).
The good feeling didn’t carry over to Sunday with the Bucks flipping the script on Indy and taking them down 118-100. Indy looked like the tired team in this match. Caris LeVert led the scoring with 23 points while Malcolm Brogdon added 16 and three others chipped in 10 points each.
Unlike the match on Friday, the Pacers weren’t as strong in the paint getting outscored 36 to 62.
T.J. Warren (foot) remains out yet to make his season debut.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The team I picked to be the dark horse play-in seed in the West is finally living up to my preseason expectations. Between game 3 and 13 the Wolves lost nine times and appeared headed back to the lottery.
Then they flipped the switch and through the seven games went on a five-game win streak and won six of seven. Two of those victories could be labeled statement wins.
Soundly beating the Heat was the first signal but even more impressive was taking down the 76ers on the night Joel Embiid returned scoring 41 points. By defeating the 76ers in double overtime in Philadelphia sounded an alam this Wolves squad means business.
Now, I’ve been burned by these Wolves before so I’m still cautiously optimistic but they’ve climbed out of the basement to seventh in the West, in a virtual tie for sixth with the Blazers and stop the presses only one game back of a home court seed.
Adding relevance to the win in Philly was it was the second game of a back-to-back for Minny who played in Charlotte the night prior.
The Big Three delivered though with Karl-Anthony Towns dropping a 28 point, 10 rebound double-double, Anthony Edwards registered 19 points, six rebounds, and seven assists while D’Angelo Russell led the scoring with 35 points.
Patrick Beverley (leg) is out indefinitely.
