Wednesday, December 15th finds the Indiana Pacers facing the Milwaukee Bucks for the third time this season.
The Bucks won both prior meetings on October 25th (119-109) and November 28th (118-100). The final match between the Central Division rivals will occur in Milwaukee on February 15th.
Both clubs last played on Monday with the Pacers losing to 100-102 versus the Warriors and Milwaukee finishing a back-to-back set losing 103-117 versus the Celtics.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Bucks taking all three contests and holding a current six-game winning streak against the Pacers dating back to March 4th, 2020. The Bucks hold the all-time record with 109 wins in 200 matches versus Indiana.
Indiana Pacers
With Stephen Curry in the house aiming at history the Pacers stepped up to the challenge preventing the celebration but weren’t able to score enough versus the vaunted Warriors defense falling by a bucket.
While Curry shot 5 of 15 from deep he managed to score 26 points but while the Pacers ran him and his Warriors teammates successfully off the line they also struggled to score from deep shooing 7 of 30 for 23.3 percent.
Big man Domantas Sabonis delivered a double-double of’ 30 points and 11 rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon registered 23 points with eight assists and six rebounds.
Two players whose names were included in the “trade talk” also delivered as Caris LeVert scored 19 points with five assists while Myles Turner pulled down 10 rebounds swatted four blocks and pitched in six points.
Rick Carlisle remains away from the team having tested positive for COVID while Justin Holiday is working his way back from having the virus and is questionable for Wednesday. TJ McConnell (wrist) and TJ Warren (foot) remain out indefinitely with no specific return date.
Milwaukee Bucks
The big news out of Milwaukee is Giannis Antetokounmpo has entered quarantine due to COVID health and safety protocols. That is huge for the Bucks who also might not have Khris Middleton as he left the last game with a knee injury.
Early this season when Middleton and Jrue Holiday missed multiple games the Bucks fought to stay .500 and had just turned the corner so if both Giannis and Middleton are out for a long period they could fall back down the ladder.
In the loss to the Celtics, Antetokounmpo posted 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal. A great line for most players but low for him.
Holiday led the Bucks in scoring with 20 points and dishing eight assists. Pat Connaughton was the top reserve scorer with 20 points, while Bobby Portis (13) and Grayson Allen (10) were the other double-figure scorers.
Ironically, Budenholzer said postgame “We weren’t at our best, whatever the reasons are, we’ve got to be better.” which could’ve been Giannis already feeling the effects of the virus.
Bucks listed as questionable are George Hill (conditioning) and Semi Ojeleye (calf) while those definitely out include Antetokounmpo, DeMarcus Cousins (personal), Wesley Matthews (quarantine), Brook Lopez (back). and Donte DiVincenzo (ankle)

Since the Pacers leaked they are prepared to tear down the team for a rebuild they’ve gone 3-1 with the lone loss to the Warriors in a game they led until late in the match.
With Antetokounmpo definitely out and likely Middleton as well it bodes well for the Pacers to grab another win.
