Monday, March 15th, the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets play for the second and final time this season. In the initial meeting on March 4th, the Nuggets won 113-103.
Last season, the squads played twice splitting the contests. The Nuggets hold the all-time record having won 47 matches of the 93 played.
Perhaps the most emotional storyline of the 2020-21 season was augmented on Saturday when Caris LeVert made his return to the court to make his debut with the Pacers.
After being sacrificed by the Nets as part of the James Harden trade, LeVert found himself headed to Indiana. During his physical, it was discovered he had a mass on his kidney.
It was a life-saving discovery that led to surgery on January 16th with many believing LeVert could be lost for most of the season if not its entirety.
But he recovered quickly and in his debut shot 5 for 5 registering 13 points plus seven rebounds and two assists. Malcolm Brogdan was the biggest benefactor of LeVert being beside him in the starting rotation leading the Pacers with 25 points.
All-Star Domantas Sabonis produced a triple-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists also collecting four steals and a block.
Doug McDermott (22), Myles Turner (16), and Justin Holiday (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
With LeVert back the Pacers will be anxious for T.J. Warren (foot) to return and hope to get him back in the second half. Jeremy Lamb (knee) missed the last game and is listed as day-to-day.
The Nuggets’ five-game winning streak came to an end as they fell to a red hot Mavericks squad. Despite the victory versus Memphis in the game prior Jamal Murray apologized to his coach Mike Malone for his abysmal 1 of 14 shooting night.
Unfortunately, the cold streak continued versus the Mavericks as Murray shot 4 of 13, collecting 10 points along with two rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Yet, the bigger issue for Denver was their bench who lost the scoring battle to Dallas 16 to 31.
Nikola Jokic tried to keep his squad in the game registering a double-double of 26 points and 11 assists plus eight rebounds.
Will Barton and Michael Porter Jr. each contributed 23 points as the only other double-figure scorers.
Gary Harris (left adductor strain), will miss his 11th consecutive game (and 18th of 19). Monte Morris (quadriceps strain) and RJ Hampton (health and safety) are also out.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Nuggets are 6-4 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
- The teams are 5-5 ATS in the last 10 head to head meetings
- Over/Under is 7-3 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Indiana Pacers vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
While the Pacers were looking tired prior to the break they continue to perform well on the road with a 10-9 record. That said, playing in the high altitude of Denver can take a toll on teams.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Pacers +5
Since February 10th, the Nuggets have only lost consecutive games once. With LeVert back I think the Pacers could start piling up some wins but they’ll have to wait for one more game because Jamal Murray and co. will have a bounce-back win.
