Houston Rockets
The Rockets’ two-game winning streak came to an end Monday against the Mavericks, 113–100 the final.
James Harden returned from missing a game with an injury but did not shoot well. Christian Wood led Houston with 23 points and Eric Gordon had 20 off the bench.
Luka Doncic had a 33 point, 16 rebound, 11 assist triple-double and Tim Hardaway Jr. backed him up with 30 points on 8-for-10 from three. Dallas is tough to beat when it gets a hot performance from someone other than Doncic.
DeMarcus Cousins played but was ejected after playing less than three minutes. He was hit with two technical fouls, neither of which were particularly egregious. He will be back in this game.
Houston has not won on the road yet this season after dropping the first two games away from the Toyota Center to the Blazers and Nuggets.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers are alone at the top of the Eastern Conference’s Central Division after a two-point win over the Pelicans in overtime Monday, 118–116.
Malcolm Brogdon hit the game-winning runner in the lane and finished with 21 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
Victor Oladipo led the way with 25 points. Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner had 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Indiana also won the turnover battle by four, which it has been doing with regularity. Based on per game averages, Indiana is +3.2 against opponents this season.
TJ Warren hurt himself last week and will be out for a prolonged stretch of time. It will hurt Indiana’s offensive firepower but perhaps make the Pacers more formidable on defense.
If Oladipo can stay healthy and continue to build confidence back as a scorer, the Pacers should be just fine with him, Sabonis and Brogdon to do the bulk of the scoring.

At home the Pacers ought to be four or five-point favorites.
