Saturday, December 3rd, finds the Houston Rockets playing the Golden State Warriors for the second of four scheduled meetings this season. Golden State won the initial November 20th match 127-120.
Houston will host again on March 20th while the Dubs will host the final meeting on February 24th.
Both teams are completing a back-to-back set with the Rockets pulling off the upset versus the Suns winning 122-121 while the Warriors defeated the Bulls 119-111.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Warriors sweeping those contests, and are currently on a six-game win streak versus Houston. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 126 of their 227 matches.
Houston Rockets
Regardless of their record, the young Rockets aren’t an easy out. When opponents let them start off strong or have a strong quarter it fuels their offense.
On Friday, they trailed by 10 points entering the final frame but the Suns failed to finish them off which resulted in the young Rockets outperforming them 36-25 in the final frame to capture the one-point victory.
All five starters scored in double-figures as well as Bruno Fernando with Jalen Green’s 30 leading his team.
Offensively, the Rockets score 109.8 points per game ranking 24th overall. Houston shoots 44.2 percent from the field which is the worst in the league and 35.1 percent from the perimeter ranking 16th overall.
Defensively, the Rockets allow opponents to score 116.6 points per game, ranking 25th overall. Houston’s foes shoot 48.1% ranking 26th while they are the 18th-ranked perimeter defense with foes shooting 35.8% from deep.
Bruno Fernando (knee) and Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) are questionable for Monday.
Golden State Warriors
The consistency isn’t there yet, but Jordan Poole is starting to show why the Warriors signed him to a four-year $140 million deal. He led the Warriors with 30 points in the victory versus the Bulls.
Draymond Green was one rebound shy of a triple-double (13 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds) while Steph Curry also collected a double-double featuring 11 rebounds and 19 points.
The Dubs moved up to third overall for scoring averaging 117.5 points per game. They shoot 48.2% from the field and 37.6% from deep, ranking sixth in both.
The defense is making moves with Golden State climbing up the stats ladder specifically with opponent efficiency. Warriors opponents average 117.2 points per game ranking 27th.
Per the above regarding opponent efficiency, foes are shooting 46.0% from the field) and 35.1% from deep ranking ninth and 10th respectively.
Andre Iguodala (hip) is out indefinitely.

Free Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Prediction:
Certainly, the Warriors can’t take the Rockets for granted as they just proved in Phoenix. Given Golden State had a relatively easy win versus the Bulls though, they should be good to go.
That said, I’m just not loving the hefty spread so while I like the Dubs to win I’ll take the points.
