Monday, November 28th, finds the Houston Rockets playing the Denver Nuggets in the first of four scheduled meetings. Denver is hosting this baseball set with the second game on November 30th while Houston will host on February 28th and April 4th. 1).
Houston played a back-to-back set on Friday/Saturday sweeping the series with the upset 128-122 victory over the Hawks and 118-105 rout of the Thunder while the Nuggets beat the Clippers 114-104 on Friday.
Last season the clubs played three times with Denver sweeping the series The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Nuggets in 102 of their 195 matches
Houston Rockets
The Rockets began the week with just three victories and finished having almost doubled that output with their wins over the Hawks and Thunder and have won three of their last five matches.
Confidence and youth are a lethal combination and the Rockets might want to thank Trae Young and the Hawks who seemingly awoke the sleeping giant within the Rockets’ youth brigade.
They looked like a different team closing out that match and the bravado continued into Saturday where it was the Rockets, not the Thunder who looked like the young team most opponents would rather avoid.
Jalen Green averaged 29 points, 7 assists, and shot 50 percent from deep in the two victories while rookie Jabari Smith Jr. averaged a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 41.2 percent from deep.
Offensively, the Rockets score 110.2 points per game ranking 21st overall. Houston shoots 44.2 percent from the field ranking 29th and 35.4 percent from the perimeter ranking 16th overall.
Defensively, the Rockets allow opponents to score 115.7 points per game, ranking 24th overall. Houston’s foes shoot 47.4% ranking 23rd while they are the 11th-ranked perimeter defense with foes shooting 34.9% from deep.
Bruno Fernando (knee) and Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) are questionable for Monday.
Denver Nuggets
This Nuggets squad hasn’t quite hit their stride yet, BUT the signs are there. Without Nicola Jokic and Jamal Murray in the lineup they refocused defensively.
And while they still have a tendency to get into offensive shoot-outs holding the Mavericks to 97 points and Clippers to 104 points is a perfect example of what their defense is capable of.
The Nuggets rank 11th in scoring with 114.5 points per game. They remain the most proficient team in the association shooting the second-best mark from both the field at 49.3% and the perimeter shooting (39.8%).
Defensively, the Nuggets allow opponents to score 113.8 points per game which ranks 15th. Denver opponents shoot 48.9% from the field (28th) and 36.0% from the perimeter ranking 17th overall.
Bones Hyland (illness), Michael Porter Jr. (heel), and Jeff Green (knee) are questionable for Monday. Collin Gillespie (leg) is out indefinitely

Free Houston Rockets vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
This was a tough call for me because on one hand I can envision the Nuggets laying a thumping on the Rockets since they seldom bother defending.
On the other hand, the Rockets are riding a high and if Denver either starts slowly or elects to get in a run and gun affair with the Rockets it’s easy to see the score being closer than the 11.5 points.
I don’t envision Denver falling for the trap game – but I elected to go with the Rockets and the points because the Nuggets still haven’t fully committed to the defensive discipline.
