Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are going into the All-Star Break as at least the eighth seed in the West. They are going into Wednesday’s schedule with three more wins than ninth-place Memphis and a loss ahead, too.
Golden State will play in Portland Wednesday before finishing the first half in Phoenix on the second night of a back-to-back.
The Warriors were just smacked down by 26 points in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Steph Curry struggled to just get shots up. He finished 5-of-13 and scored just 16 points. Eric Paschall led the Warriors with 18 off the bench.
Draymond Green left the game in the second half with a sprained ankle and did not return. This could be a problem, given the proximity to the All-Star Break.
Green may be fine but if he’s sore, the Warriors may hold him out with the break so close. But with two games in two days against quality teams, the Warriors don’t have a lot of margin for error.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns, meanwhile, overcame a Devin Booker ejection on Tuesday to beat the Lakers in Los Angeles, 114–104. They now have the second-best record in all of basketball, just behind Utah.
Booker had 17 before he got the heave-ho in the third quarter. Chris Paul, who didn’t score in the first half, made some big plays when Booker left and finished with eight points and ten assists.
But the Suns’ supporting cast was the difference. Dario Saric had 21 points off the bench to lead the team. Abdel Nader had eight and Cam Johnson nine.
Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder, the two starting wings, combined for 34. They played their usually tremendous defense, holding seemingly everyone but LeBron James down.
Booker may get hit with a fine but he’ll be back for this game, no doubt.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Head to Head: The teams are 5-5 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
- Head to Head: The Suns are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 head to head meetings
- Head to Head: Over/Under is 6-4 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns NBA Prediction: it finishes close.
The Suns look the better team because they just have such a strong defense. It may be hard for Curry to dominate this game, especially with Ayton and the Suns’ faster wings playing the pick and roll.
But that may just encourage him to get others involved. Assuming Green plays, the Warriors’ bigs will challenge the Suns. They won’t dominate but they will continue to go at them.
So look for a good final game of the first half and one that could go either way in the final few minutes. For that reason, I’m taking the points.
