Saturday, December 11th, finds the Golden State Warriors facing the Philadelphia 76ers for the second and final time this season. In the initial meeting on November 24th, the Warriors won 116-96 but notably, both Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris were out.
Golden State hasn’t played since Wednesday when they defeated the Blazers 104-94. Philly played a back-to-back set on Wednesday and Thursday versus the Hornets and Jazz splitting the two matches.
The 76ers took the opening game versus Charlotte 110-106 but lost 96=118 to Utah.
Last season, the teams played twice with each team winning on the opponent’s court. The 76ers holds the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 168 of their 322 matches
Golden State Warriors
Although the game and winning is the priority let’s face it everyone is dialed in to see when Stephen Curry will surpass Ray Allen as the all-time leader for 3-pointers made. Entering this match he needs nine to tie and 10 to own the record.
If it were to happen in Philly his brother Seth would be on hand to witness his brother establish the record.
On Wednesday there was talk Steph would try to get the record at home and while he attempted 17 long balls he only connected on six finishing with 22 points.
Andrew Wiggins offered a stat-filling performance with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Jordan Poole scored 22, Otto Porter Jr. scored 15 while Kevon Looney added 11 as the other double-figure contributors.
Draymond Green has upped his game from the last two season attempting more shots and is currently the leading candidate to win Defensive Player of the Year. Green produced a line of five points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a block in the win versus Portland.
After missing 11 games with a sore knee Andre Iguodala was upgraded to probable for Saturday. Klay Thompson continues to rehab with hopes of a Christmas Day return and Wiseman is still listed as out indefinitely.
Although Joel Embiid took a few games to rediscover his consistency after a bout with COVID he’s been performing at an MVP level of late.
In his last four games, he’s averaging a double-double of 30.5 points and 11 rebounds with 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 36.4 percent from the perimeter and getting to the line an average of 10.8 times.
Playing on consecutive nights he’s probably still impacted by the virus and his line perhaps reflected that as he delivered 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block in the loss to Utah.
More concerning is he’s questionable to play in this match sustaining an abdominal injury versus Utah.
Four Sixers scored in double-figures with Seth Curry posting 18 points along with two rebounds, and four assists. Tobias Harris scored 17 adding seven rebounds, an assist, and a block. Tyrese Maxey chipped in 11 points.
Ben Simmons (suspension) and Grant Riller (knee) remain out indefinitely.

I already liked the Dubs to take this game but if Embiid is iffy that adds fuel to the pick.
