Sunday, November 27th, the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves play in the first of four scheduled contests this season. Minny will host again on February 1st while the Dubs will host on February 26th and March 26th.
Both teams last played Friday with the Warriors beating the Jazz 129-118 while the Wolves lost 108-110 to the Hornets.
Last season the teams played four times splitting the regular season series with two wins each. The Warriors hold the all-time record having bested the Wolves in 72 of their 123 matches.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are still trying to find their mojo on the road having a single victory in 10 road matches. But the Wolves are even (5-5) at home so this might be a great location for them to continue their recent hot streak.
To wit, the Warriors have won four of their last five matches with the trio of Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Stephen Curry all on fire from beyond the arc.
The trio sat out the Pelicans game but their efficiency from deep in the three matches versus the Rockets Clippers and Jazz is blistering:
- Thompson: 19 of 32 (59.3%)
- Wiggins: 15 of 27 (55.5%)
- Curry: 17 of 37 (45.9%).
The Warriors score 116,8 points per game ranking sixth overall. Golden State shoots 47.8% from the field to rank ninth.
As noted the trio above are shooting lights out from beyond the perimeter and that’s registering in their team efficiency from deep as they’re now averaging 37.9% on the season which vaults them up to fifth overall.
The four Warriors titles were directly linked to the team’s prowess defensively, but through the first quarter, they’ve struggled to find a rhythm and integrate the youth.
Small advances are being made although the road is where they’ve truly struggled to be consistent defensively. The Dubs allow 117.5 opponent points ranking 28th but perform better with the 10th-best rank on opponent efficiency — 46.1% field percentage and 34.9% perimeter percentage.
Andre Iguodala (hip) is out indefinitely.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Wolves are still trying to figure things out with Rudy Gobert and raise the team’s level of defense which is starting to pay dividends as their near the quarter-season mark.
They’ve jumped from 23rd to 17th for opponent scoring limiting foes to 113.5 points per game. They’re also recognizing improvements overall in opponent efficiency with opponents shooting 44.4 percent from the field which ranks second-best.
The perimeter still needs some work, however, as Wolves’ opponents shoot 36.5 percent from deep ranking 21st.
Offensively, the Wolves score 114 points per game (14th), while shooting 48.3% from the field (27th) and 32.6% from the perimeter (16th).
Jordan McLaughlin (calf) is questionable for Sunday. Taurean Prince (shoulder) is out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Warriors are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games on the road.
- The Warriors are 0-6 SU in their last 6 games when playing on the road against Minnesota.
- The Wolves are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games.
- The Wolves are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
The fact the Warriors haven’t won in Minny in their last six outings is a bit concerning but they arrive motivated to get back on track away from the Chase Center.
They’ve let me down repeatedly on the road, but I trust Steph Curry and Co. more than the KAT and his Wolves.
