Sunday, November 20th finds the Golden State Warriors facing the Houston Rockets in the first of four scheduled meetings. Houston will host again on March 20th while the Dubs will host on December 3rd and February 24th.
Both teams last played Friday with the Warriors defeating the Knicks 111-101 while the Rockets fell 91-99 to the Pacers.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Warriors sweeping the regular-season series and are currently on a six-game win streak versus Houston. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 126 of their 226 matches.
Golden State Warriors
At first glance, the Warriors’ Friday opponent the Knicks’ featured a competitive record. But dive deeper and discover the 76ers ((Joel Embiid/James Harden), Nuggets (Nikola Jokic/Aaron Gordon), Hornets (LaMelo Ball/Terry Rozier), and Pistons (Cade Cunningham) were all missing their best player and core contributors.
So with the Warriors needing to get back on track defensively, the Knicks provided a good practice team given their strong defense and middling offense.
Steph Curry and Draymond Green made a point of getting Klay Thompson rolling early, but the truer test was the glass where the Dubs outrebounded the third-ranked Knicks.
Jordan Poole continues to struggle, however, the more pressing issue is fixing the defense (but keep an eye on Poole who hasn’t looked comfortable).
Offensively, the Warriors are feasting scoring 117.1 points per game which ranks fourth overall. Golden State showcases proficiency shooting 47.6% from the field and 37.6% from the perimeter both ranking seventh.
Defensively, the Warriors allow opponents to score 117.3 points per game, ranking 28th overall. Golden State allows opponents to shoot 45.6 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from the perimeter ranking seventh and 15th respectively.
Andre Iguodala (hip) is out indefinitely.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets have been in more games than their measly three wins imply. Ask the Grizzlies, Clippers, Raptors, and Pacers all of whom had to buckle down in the final frame to net the victory.
Offensively, the Rockets score 107.9 points per game ranking 29th overall. Houston shoots 43.5% from the field ranking 29th, and 34.6% from the perimeter tied with the Clippers at 17th.
Defensively, the Rockets allow opponents to score 115.3 points per game, ranking 22nd overall. Houston’s foes shoot 47.6% ranking 24th while they are in a three-way tie (Clippers, Pistons) with the seventh-best perimeter defense as foes shoot 34.2% from deep.
Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) and Kevin Porter Jr. (back) are questionable for Sunday while Bruno Fernando (knee) is out indefinitely.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
The Warriors core and Steve Kerr have all noted they recognize the team has areas to fix and how every opponent is waiting to take their shot at them so they aren’t panicking.
That said, you better believe if they lose on the road again, that situation would abruptly change possibly even with Bob Myers trading a youngster to add a defensive vet.
The Warriors get their first road win today – book it!
